[Spoilers] Castle Nathria ending

Still never once happened so he shouldn’t have gotten his hopes up.

Can’t tell me “I’m not allowed to be disappointed” when they could very well change the trend, it would’ve been nice and like anyone else in these forums I’m allowed to nit pick.

The amount of cinematics in expansions has been steadily increasing every expansion, and if my math is right, thus far Shadowlands has had less cinematics at launch than BFA, Legion, or even WoD did.

It’s really not that unreasonable to think they may have tucked one away in Castle Nathria.

I just want to point out how this raid reinforces the current trend that being a raid boss is not a permanent death sentence in WoW anymore.

Killing off Sire Denathrius this early would have been a terrible decision. Glad they chose to keep open the possibilities there.

Uh yeah…I mean part of me was hoping they wouldn’t kill him because at this point he’s still a more interesting villain than generic video game villain #365 (Jailer), but still…have we learned nothing about just locking up our enemies and/or powerful artifacts where the forces of evil can just come along and free them/steal them?

The watching of the Raid itself is interesting since the Massacre Spell is one of the more dramatic ones for Revendreth’s Death Magic!

Large Swords showing up and racing across the battlefield leaving Sin Anima in it’s wake!

Further point of interest the Red Sin Elementals are outright called Echoes of Sin! Sin Anima is merely the Echoes that prove the Sin’s demise so the Venthyr pretty much toss Sinners who can no longer produce such Echoes into the Maw since they can no longer conjure up proof of the Sin’s demise!

Yeah Blizzard has a real, real bad problem with killing off appealing minor antagonists ASAP (Rip Lei Shen and Zul) so this is always nice to see. Even if it just ends up with him being a Maw raid boss.

Denathrius being trapped within his sword made me think of the Soul Reaver from the Legacy of Kain series. It makes me wonder if Denathrius will end up becoming a weapon we wield, like Xal’atath for Shadow Priests in Legion.

Come to think of it, the quest for the end of Nathria was only added in the last 3 weeks of Beta.

And that cinematic being much lower effort than the others makes me think.

Perhaps Denathrius was supposed to be killed but because the community liked him so much they decided to put him in the glass box of “break in case of emergency” like Illidan.

This ending is good for Denathrius yet disappointing- it gives Blizzard an excuse to shelve him for a long time. Long enough for the inevitable dreadlord expansion I suppose.

If so, I hope it’s long enough for him and Azshara to end up in the same room together. Perhaps both making a grab for the same “true throne of power”. I’d love nothing more than to watch them sass each other.

Azshara Vs Denathrius sass fight:
