Spoilers** Anyone else REALLY confused as to why this guy is suddenly loyal to Dimensius?

The one I’m referring to is Salhadaar, Why is he loyal to Dimensius when his ENTIRE premise of him AND the Etherium is that they wished to DESTROY Dimensius by ANY means necessary?

Wowpedia:

“Nexus-King Salhadaar was once the ruler of the people of K’aresh, until Dimensius ravaged the Ethereal homeworld and scattered the race across the Twisting Nether. The old ruling class of K’aresh, known as the Ethereum which he leads, is committed to defeating Dimensius and the Void by any means necessary, including transforming into void creatures themselves. It has been a thousand years since he began his crusade.”

Wiki.gg:

"Long ago Salahadaar was the King of the planet K’aresh and leader of the Ethereum, the K’areshi ruling class. With the coming of Dimensius the All-Devouring the planet was destroyed and its inhabitants were turned into energy beings, the ethereals and brokers. Salhadaar led the ethereals into the Twisting Nether to escape.

A thousand years before the Invasion of Outland, Salhadaar began a crusade of revenge against Dimensius."

There’s literally NOTHING in the BC Quests or his Lore tabs that mention ANYTHING about loyalty to Dimensius, actually it’s the complete OPPOSITE. So what the hell changed!? Why the sudden Heel turn?

Maybe in GoK, we can learn the reasons for their new alliance?
Even in TBC he was already problematic, maybe he suspected something and then decided to join Dimensius? Well knowing some things that happened in K’aresh, this attitude would not be surprising.

The only theory I have that makes some semblance of SENSE is that its not actually HIM.

Maybe he did truly DIE in Netherstorn and what we’re seeing is a corpse puppeted BY Dimensius.

Whether or not Blizzard GOES with that is another story, chances are its JUST going to be “Hee hoo I’m loyal now, lmao.” which is a cop out on par with “Somehow, Palpatine returned.”

What if he discovered who was truly responsible for the destruction of K’aresh? Not that Dimensius would spare the planet, but well… maybe he didn’t quite agree with the events.
Personally, I don’t think we’ll have a very good explanation for this exchange of objectives.

I believe back in BC Salhadaar was trying to become a being of void, which is why we killed him to begin with. It is not too big a stretch to to pivot to the idea his actual loyalty was to Dimensius all along and he was playing a long game finding the pieces of Dimensius to reassemble him, while cloaking his actions as a righteous campaign to destroy the void lord for good.

The audio Drama had him deflect all blame for his actions to take down the arcane barriers and give the world to Dimensius onto the Revel he had been a member of.

The quests on PTR say that him hunting Dimensius was actually just a cover story for him hunting the pieces of Dimensius (which were scattered across the universe after K’aresh exploded) to revive him. Truth is Salhadaar always worked for Dimensius I guess. I’m not a fan of it personally, a fall from grace due to revenge was a better idea.

He’s a liar. The stated reason for the Ethereum’s existence is propaganda. His “Crusade” against the fragments of Dimensius was a cover for his quest to gather them all up to reform him.

Maybe it was a cover the entire time, or maybe thousands of years of drinking void juice had some effect on the organization’s mission. I’d certainly hope that it would, if not then the corrupting properties of the void have apparently been vastly overstated.

I have to admit that I was surprised they decided to bring Salhadaar back into the story over using a different character.

Considering how the Ethereal Lorewalking points out that Salhadaar was killed, I can’t help but wonder at his survival. Perhaps its tied to Void use or something.

The implication is that he became a Void being before we killed him, I believe. Connecting the dots, I would guess he was made into Dimensius’ new harbinger.

I actually think they’ve done a good job of integrating the K’aresh stuff in a way that (mostly) cleverly expands on instead of recklessly replacing. The only sticking point that got run over roughshod was perhaps the timeline.

I am not 100% but from what I understood he was brought back because of his bargain with Dimensius, which he made way back when he sold out K’aresh to the void lord in exchange for his own survival.

I guess he was just stuck in the void all this time.

Obligatory Danath Trollbane comment.

Everyone you know and love is getting heel-turned by an administration of new writers who don’t even know who they are, and a lack of a loremaster who cares for their job enough to vet whats about to be published.

Honestly, I haven’t played the PTR and don’t know how he came back.
As long as there’s a plausible explanation, it doesn’t bother me. Maybe it has something to do with him being some kind of void god when we killed him in Netherstorm, if that wasn’t just a ruse.
But maybe his crusade vs Dimensius was just a farce, or breathing the void drove him mad.

Somehow I like that

It could also be that the lore master’s hands are tied and no control over the story

You mean every male character…cuz that’s the way it seems to be going now. :frowning:

Well, this thread is rapidly degenerating into insane nonsense.

Danath Trollbane did not get “heel-turned.” He experienced exactly the opposite phenomenon. And the character who is positioned as the heel against him is a woman.

Please take your incel nonsense out the back door.

My only gripe so far is that Locus-Walker has suffered the dreaded persona shift into sappy emotional trainwreck.

Yeah, not sure where all of that came from. I was just voicing my displeasure about Salhadaars loyalty to dimesius being a cop out.

I saw a post leaning that way and almost responded. Then I thought… eh… wait…

And then more of the same.

You put it well. Rapidly degenerated into some gripes that are untethered to the lore.
