[SPOILERS] A Question for Night Elf Fans

This thread contains spoilers, so if you don’t like spoilers, please stop reading.

With the recent news that:

1 - Tyrande kills Sylvanas’ boyfriend;
2 - The dead Night Elves are rescued and sent to Ardenweald to spend eternity as ponies and butterflies on the magic fairy forest;

Do you consider the Teldrassil plot to be resolved?

Not even close.

Nope.
The Horde burned Teldrassil, Not just Sylvana or Nathanos, the entire Horde.

No, because that is just another middle finger from the devs to the night elves.

It saddens me that Nathanos didn’t ask for the tree to burn and has to pay. But, oh well…

Number 1 is a good start.

Number 2…why do I envision a My Little Piny commercial?

It is resolved when Sylvanas’ body is burned to ash, and her soul is trapped inside a crystal, able to see out in to the world around it, but eternally unable to affect anything.

Locked away in torment, I would have the Felhammer teleport to a long burned out solar system, empty and devoid of all life and ravaged so thoroughly by the Burning Legion that no living thing would ever go there, and place the crystal in stable solar orbit where Sylvanas’ soul will wait for all eternity in silent suffering.

that’s a good way to turn her into a titan

I mean… its irrelevant. Tyrande/The Night Warrior and the night elves are just a pawn of Elune who has a much greater plan, and if Teldrassil burning was really a threat to Elune, then Teldrassil would not have burned.

Shadows Rising Spoilers

After the Earthen Ring shaman Yukha warned Thrall that something was terribly wrong in the spirit world, Thrall made the decision to go Nordrassil and decided to bring Calia Menethil and Baine, due to him despising Sylvanas. Upon meeting with Malfurion Stormrage, Tyrande Whisperwind, Shandris Feathermoon, and Maiev Shadowsong, Baine noticed their frosty, rigid silence. Thrall subsequently formally apologized to the night elves and pointed out how Baine sought to overthrow Sylvanas and remove her as warchief. When the meeting started to dissolve into an argument about responsibility for Teldrassil, Baine asked Maiev what justice was to her and asked her if Thunder Bluff or Orgrimmar must burn, if the death of their innocents would appease her, and if she thought pain does not simply bring more pain. In the aftermath of Tyrande’s revelation that she saw their words as empty pledges of justice, Baine, along with Calia, allowed herself to be corralled out of the area by Yukha. However, Thrall refused to be corralled out and promised Tyrande that he would deliver what is owed, that he would give her the head of Sylvanas Windrunner. The group subsequently departed Nordrassil and arrived in Orgrimmar soon after.

Couldn’t have said it better myself, only I’d put someone else in that crystal with her - you know who I mean.

Yes and No.

Getting to Kill Nathanos is sweet. But if i’m completely honest, I wouldn’t tie that to the Night Elves.
The Horde playerbase wants him dead, the Alliance playerbase wants him dead. It’s less of a “victory!” moment and more of a “Finally ” Moment.

The Souls of the Night Elves going to Ardenweald to be shepherded by Ysera is a good touch. So in that regard, yes. I consider the lost souls at Teldrassil to be at peace.

Is the STORY resolved? No, not Really. Sylvanas is still out there, and annoyingly this entire Teldrassil event has only focused on Tyrande, while pushing aside other important Night elf characters like Maiev, Shandris, Jarod, Malfurion, any of the druids from Hyjal… or anyone OTHER than Tyrande…

Blizzard knows she’s not the only Night Elf, right? She’s not even that Interesting…

Unfortunately, this is going to be “part of the plan” to get Nathanos to the Shadowlands. Unless Tyrande does something that completely obliterates him from existence and his soul is forever gone, then this death is meaningless And will likely get Nathanos closer to Sylvanas to be a boss in her raid.

That’s great and all, they’re still dead. Civilians — men, women, children, all having to move on to a new world rather than the one they were born and grew up in.

I’m not a Night Elf main, but they’re my second favorite Alliance race. In no way does this make up for what happened. Not until Sylvanas is dead and gone for good. And Earthmother help us if she gets redeemed. The Night Elves have been bullied in lore for a very long time.

Just watched a video on why Sylvanas did and what she is doing.

Basically, Sylvanas declared war on Elune.

Nathanos dying to Tyrande in the pre-patch is just addressing the fact he should’ve died in Darkshore. Tyrande should’ve backhanded him so hard his head exploded and shrapnel of bones from his skull struck and killed the Val’kyr with him.

By contrast this is pretty weak. It’d be much more meaningful if Tyrande had killed Nathanos defending and reclaiming Night Elf lands.

All this scene accomplished was giving me even More reasons to hate Tyrande: She was already unrepresentative of the Night Elves as a whole, and then she gets 1v1’d by a Corpse with a Bow…

Worst. Leader. Ever.

And her little story Arch is coming at the cost of EVERY other Night elf character getting time in the Spotlight.

This is, annoyingly, how Blizzard does stuff. Until the Night Warrior, had Tyrande ever really taken any sort of significant presence, ever? She was there at Suramar and… she got scolded at Varian for not knowing what patience is, back in Pandaria. You know. The 10,000+ year old leader of an ancient civilization and avatar of a goddess. Not knowing what patience is.

I swear the writers hate certain races.

To go from the awesome cinematic of her and Malfurion killing all the Horde soldiers to losing to Nathanos was insulting. I don’t care how good of an archer he is, he should not be able to stand up against a multi-millennia old elf literally infused with god-like powers.

I’ve disliked Tyrande for a while, but that was absolutely a Horde-favoritism outcome to the fight. Sure, we got a single Valkyr killed. But Nathanos standing up against Tyrande without breaking a sweat was insulting.

Why would you make this post, Mortis? You know Night elf players on the forums will never be happy with the story. Hand them everything they ask for, and they’ll be upset about something that’s already happened and can’t change. :grimacing:

Tyrande needs to die in SL.
