Spoiler warning, SW guards, Turalyon, and Drakthyr

From what I saw relating to the stormwind guards from the alpha I don’t understand why the guards are hostile? We have been friends to dragons for centuries. We’ve helped each other save the world countless times. Such things said by the guards/ Turalyon are:

  • I prefer hunting dragons, not befriending them.
  • Those things will ruin this city!
  • The only good dragon’s a dead one!
  • Go back to your home. Filthy beast.
  • I can smell those things from here. Disgusting.
  • They don’t belong here. I’d love to turn those horns into a nice little trophy.

Kind of odd no? I saw the rational on Wowhead state it might be due to the second war but that feels like a stretch. After what happened in the second war by circumstances of the dragons being slaves, how long ago it was, and how much dragons have helped since. You’d think we’d all be buddies, ha.

I can see it being a part of the Turalyon conflict we all know is coming, won’t sweat it to much. Maybe those are who join Turalyon.

The Horde guards will say the same thing too, it’s the same thing when DK’s first showed up. There’s no deeper meaning behind it.

Yes. It just sounds like the same thing what happened with DKs. A new Dracthyr entering SW or Org will be pelted with insults thanks to what happened in Cata.

Yeah, we have been friends with a bunch of them. The average stormwind citizen though probably only remembers Onyxia and Deathwing. Pretty different experience.

Yeah there’s already a fairly lengthy post on it

Yeah I don’t think it’s to deep but we weren’t friends with the death knights when our characters show up. However, if you make an allied race Death Knight the guards do like you off the bat.

“Hostile” = red plates. Are they actually hostile, unfriendly, or just calling them names like they do with new death knights?

That’s because the new DKs don’t have to go through the starting zone.

with the gen 3 dk were going to be conquering azeroth and they hated the scourge to that day.
while gen 4 dk were made with the new lich king and he gave a head up about the new dks coming.

What’s more is that Drac’thyr are directly tied to the Black Dragonflight which is going engender distrust from Stormwind citizens to a much greater degree than say if they were of the blue, red, or green dragonflights.

Hostile in the normal English word mate

So not hostile according to the wow definition of the word, but some other sort of “hostile”. That you apparently can’t even define for me yourself.

So does this confirm that they are musky?

Hot.

So they wouldn’t remember that the dragon aspects actually saved the world? Even with the monument? Or the fact that Jaina dates one? Or that we helped bring ysera back?

It would make more sense for the SW guards to spit on and insult Calia than it would for them to do so to dragon headed sethrak.

A random Stormwinder is (probably) gonna know that: The Reds bore orcs into battle against them in war, didn’t help to prevent Bolvar’s death 'n only cleansed the area afterward, and…that’s about it? Oh and randomly hostile world ones being randomly hostile because of reasons.

The blues were secretive nobodies until they’re suddenly trying to capture and / or kill every single magic user around. Their leader had to die before it was stopped and thus greatly weakened all blues. It’s likely only the presence of the Hero that prevented any real panic when the Staff ‘event’ happens. Oh and Jaina’s dating one for a while. That’s weird, why’s she conspiring with dragons instead of being with humans.

MoP had a bronzer enable Garrosh, a well-established war crimes supermacist, to escape his trial and sentence and eventually caused the entirety of WoD to happen, go bronzers. There’s the background-but-constant ‘threat’ of the Infinite which is brought on by bronzer stuff via timeywimey shenanigans. Go bronzers?

Greenies are randomly hostile or corrupted by this weird Nightmare stuff and so hate everyone (Sunken Temple, the dream gates anyone). They barely do anything helpful or useful beyond their own concerns. It’s only Ysera herself that tries to help those far off elves with their stuff.

Black dragons, everyone in SW know how bad they are, always hostile, the chaos made by Onyxia, not to mention Deathwing that broke the whole world and then went for a second round at Stormwind causing even more damage.

Sure the dragons went together to defeat Deathwing in cata, but they worked the closest to the Horde warchief Thrall, and the Horde does not have the best reputation with the Alliance or Stormwind. Especially not a dragon/Horde combo considering the history.

So yeah, these weird humanoid dragon people that were made by Deathwing (random SWers ain’t gonna tell the difference between Deathwing and Neltharion) are suddenly walking into the city? Why should they do anything other than kill them on sight?

I mean… jaina involved with one is a fair reason to be nervous.

Ya know, arthas, kael, illy, thrall.

Shes got a thing for the bad boys

They were created by Neltharion. The creations of Neltharion’s son aren’t too far from Stormwind so I imagine the guards are familiar with them.

O yeah good point. Neltharion is there da da. “I prefer hunting dragons, not befriending them.” is still a bit off the cuff.

It seems like Blizz is stuck at Vanilla and forgotten about the things We have done with dragons since than.

This kind of dialog woulda made sense if We ignore all those expansions where We helped or worked with dragons.
