So, about that conversation between Winter Queen and Elune cinematic.
Elune said that was herself who planned to send a “cascade of souls” to Ardenweald to help the battle against the Jailer. But turns out all the souls went to the Maw.
I got confused about how Elune did it. So it was she who influenced Sylvanas to burn the tree to send these souls? I thought the burning was a Sylvanas/Jailer plan to empower the maw, not a Elune thing. Or it is kinda"both"?
Did Elune influenced Sylvanas to do so or something about this?

Instead, Elune wanted to send them to aid her sisters realm, Ardenweald.
She was aware of the drought. But she wasn’t aware that the death machine or w/e its called was broken and all the souls would pour into the Maw.
That was the role she played. She just made the best of a bad situation. Or at least tried to.
No Sylvanas and the Jailer were acting on her own for their own evil plans. No connection to Elune. She invaded the night elves without any warning for the goal of conquering the factions.
Elune doesn’t have a direct line of contact with the SL. It’s not her realm, she’s a being of Life. But she can sense her sister’s emotions and heard her in serious distress calling for help. Elune knew absolutely nothing about what was going on with the Maw and the Jailer.
Sylvanas deciding to burn the tree was a last minute decision. The original plan was to take it hostage. Elune wouldn’t have had any forewarning. But she tried to make the best of a bad situation and ensure those who did die went to a peaceful afterlife in service of Ardenweald, which is totally up the night elves’ ally, and also hoping the influx of energy and support could help the Winter Queen with whatever she was going through.
It came as a surprise when the Winter Queen revealed Elune had inadvertently launched those souls into the Maw instead. She was heartbroken by it.
Elune has always sent “Worthy” souls to her own realm, she did the similar with Ysera (sending her to Ardenweald instead of her own realm), so moving souls between afterlives IS something in Elune’s jurisdiction, however nothing in the current narrative suggests she “influenced” Sylvanas to do what she did.
I always thought that she was part of this whole thing tbh, like helping the Jailer on purpose. She knew about the drought that was going on, everyone knows this now…however if she knew about the drought then she knew that the maw was sucking up souls like a fat kid at Wendy’s with a frosty. There’s no way she didn’t know it was happening, Elune was 100% in on it.

No, it means that Elune doesn’t care about the lives of her “chosen” people, and so she let them die. Gods are shiftless, uncaring creatures, unworthy of worship.
