[Spoiler] [In Game Cutscene] The magical power of friendship

Well, I’m not a fan of the first cutscene. It’s uhm…something. At least there are actual males in the scene and not some bizarre “female powa” thing. lol

but 1:40 LOL

This type of scene has been done before Endgame, furthermore if they were copying Marvel then they’ve probably been doing that to some extent since Vanilla. I remember finding a page on Wowpedia that had profiles of various Blizzard artists, including Chris Metzen and Samwise Didier for example, and IIRC they almost all cited at least one artist who worked on X-Men in the 90s as one of their inspirations (mainly Joe Madureira, in Metzen’s case Jim Lee).

If you look at how orcs are drawn in the concept art for WoW (or even in the comic books) it’s highly reminiscent of how Lee and Madureira drew Beast in X-Men. You could probably take pages from Madureira’s Battle Chasers, change the text inside the speech bubbles, and trick people into thinking it’s an official WoW comic.

First time seeing either of those but yeah… wrathgate was a lot more epic.

I wish alexstraza did something…. Like anything except get slapped around lol how is she the queen of all dragons. Emberthal has done more for the dragonflights at this point xd

My guy the first quest in the new zone gives you an option to ask the dragon about their feelings at this moment.

What did you think any cutscene was gonna be?

Thrall throwing his axe is pretty iconic tbh

The cutscene is not finished as seen by the cube, so I feel it is missing some effects maybe.

I think the pacing is kinda off, but overall is a good cutscene.

Wrathgate aged terribly, and thats ok, people have nostalgic attachments to it.

Neither are the best or the worst WoW can offer cinematic wise.

Also, this is a real time rendered cutscene, WoW isn’t exactly good at those.

So we can count on him to land the killing blow in the end then :dracthyr_crylaugh:

Also touching to see the centaurs show up. Guess we still have to prove ourselves to them in another mighty hunt.

kills an entire shadowflame dragon

Whoever their leader is: I’ve seen better kills

The first one looks very pretty, but the pacing and bloated dialogue are… kind of terrible. There’s no tension, and the villain is a moron… like, just kill her if you’re going to kill her, that’s what bad people do. Why give her three minutes to slowly stand up?

The Wrathgate is incredibly dated visually, but the pacing is much, much better, the dialogue is much tighter and cleaner. The action is good, the characters are taking actions which in their positions would be realistic and are good for the cinematic.

If Blizzard did Wrathgate today, it’d look beautiful, but Bolvar would stop to give several rousing speeches, while Arthus stood and watched… for some reason.

Is Wrathgate perfect? No, but it’s substantially better.

I’m sure there are better cinematics to compare to Wrathgate, but those are the two you wanted to compare.

They are different in game events with different characters and different intents behind them why make such shallow comparisons?

It wasn’t plot armor that allowed him to leave. That damned cube he turned into was just really hard to hit and confusing. Nothing scarier than knowing your enemy was a blurry cube all along

The first one screams equality.

The second screams man-hood.

Get with the times, we’re looking for equality.

Like, I know! Like this is the first time in…forever, that we have seen our faction leaders all come together to give the slap down on a villain. Like, if Azeroth ever unites like it did in this scene, we are basically unstoppable.

You mean man-hood is when we all get slaughtered and then pettily fight each other while the Lich King regains his strength?

That is literally a scene from Avengers Endgame

The momment will probably feel better with the game context, I like it, just needed to see a monk punching fyrakk to make it better.

I’m excited to see what will the raid finale look like.

Because endgame is the only time when heroes unite?

If anything it gives me more of an Overwatch vibe:
