[Spoilculation] Why The Night Warrior Curse Kills The User

From the new Grimoire of the Shadowlands thingamajig:

The Winter Queen is the Death Goddess whose job is to interface with Life in the cycle of Life and Death.

So if Elune is her sister and opposite, that means she is the Life Goddess whose job is to interface with Death in the cycle of Life and Death.

As such, it stands to reason that Elune’s “darkest face” AKA the Night Warrior’s power source is this connection with Death.

And that’s why the Night Warrior’s curse kills the user. They are basically empowered by Death itself.

They aren’t Night Elves.

They are some unknown race from planet Fyzandi.

They did use Elune’s power to save Fyzandi from an old god, and succumbed to the Night warriors curse. It’s likely that Tyrande will also die soon as well.

Are you saying Elune is Life? How does that all work though. She interfaces with ghosts and spirits in the life world?

And Ardenweald sends the dead back to Life so Elune causing Death is unsurprising!

The Winter Queen empowers her Realm with Death yet restores Life and Elune empowers her Realm with Life yet gives Death…

Incidentally the Eternal Ones seem to be one with their Realms so Elune getting her Realm tampered with by Freya probably explains the Arcane her followers unknowingly wield!

It kills the user because the user can’t control the two side of the moon the waxing and waning this is a self control of the soul. As surely,as the physical nature as it influence on the surrounding world Elunes nature isn’t based on that layer of existence but of magic /ethereal closer to the spirit realm so has to be balanced or the soul will tore just like what uthas and slyvanas .

Everything in relative time.

…so would this mean that the Winter Queen can create Light Warriors?

Day Warrior, fighter of the Night Warrior, champion of the sun.

I don’t think so because Elune and the WQ both share the night theme.

I think the Winter Queen would make something like a “Night Doctor”. The Night Warrior kills, the Night Doctor heals lol

Elune has given immortality, so could that be the mirror of the perma death Winter Queen gave Willowblossom?

I know that the obvious conclusion has been to tie Elune and the Winter Queen, which does seem obvious, but I’ve also read theories that the sister in question is Eonar, which… I mean, when you start throwing around the word “Pantheon” does kind of slant that way.

(Also thanks to the gibbering madness that was the end of Legion, the Titans have since been revealed to be the kind of level nothing raid fodder you could put on par with the jobbers that are the Covenant Leaders, but I digress…)

Other than her own son, Elune’s always been a god alone, no “Pantheon” to speak of. Also her apparent ties to the Naaru are… a thing? … And yes, I’m aware of the use of the Tear of Elune in all this and why would the Winter Queen have one if she wasn’t Elune’s Sister, but like… the Tear was originally cast as a Titanic Artifact somehow (Pillar of Creation)? And, again, a Naaru severed “limb” decoder? …

It’s something of a Divine Sonic Screwdriver at this point…

I’unno. It’ll probably be Elune, assuming they want to finally throw open those curtains and let the light of disappointment shine on that like every other “grand” revelation, but if it does tie back to the Titans, it wouldn’t be completely out of left field.

I thought that too but since you’re in a spoiler thread, I don’t think you’ll mind if I reveal that 9.1 quests say Elune is her sister.

And there’s that disappointment I was talking about.

I didn’t expect any better, and still it’s a letdown.

i’m hoping somehow some way they reveal Elune as the mother and not the sister. It would make more sense for Elune to be the mother and one of the first ones and very very powerful, and Sylvanas and the Jailer trying to overthrow the first ones.

I heard the Night Warriors curse causes surrounding trees to combust.

I just suddenly had a revelation…it was Tyrande all along that burned down Teldrassil!

/gasp :scream:

I’m personally expecting Elune’s ties to the Arcane to come from Freya(a being aligned with the Arcane due to being a Titan Keeper) messing with her Life Realm and getting Life Magic as a result…

I’m sure Eonar got Life Magic while converting Ysera into a Dragon Aspect when binding her to what she thought was Freya’s Realm. I’m sure the event got her in contact with Elune who gifted her with Life Energies some of which was gifted to Ysera’s older sister Alexstrasza.

Sylvanas was firing catapults filled with flame repellent. Tyrande laughs as she explodes Teldrassil.

What a twist!
