I wanted to address the fact/concern that due to the various different ways you can play wow (vanilla, vanilla HC, TBC, WOTLK, CATA, SOD, Retail, soon to be MOP) it’s drastically splitting up the player base. I do believe that everyone should be allowed to play whatever makes them happiest but at the same time Retail feels kinda dead and the future of retail doesn’t seem too promising. I wish there was a way to retain everyone to a single version of WoW that made everyone happy but i’m not sure how to make that possible.
thats cause retail isnt a good mmorpg. if classic wasnt a thing i wouldnt subscribe
there are plenty of players in each version of the game. if there wasn’t interest, they wouldn’t spend the money to release them.
Forcing people to play a specific version doesn’t work. For example, I will just not play WoW if my only option is retail
+1 to no classic, no sub.
DF I gave up on in a month. I was not going to complete the trilogy of terror. I was in classic more late SL. DF just sealed that door.
Retail is fantastic. It’s just a little difficult for the weaker players.
it is a great take on a Farmville and Barbie dressup game for sure!
The mythic raids and infinitely-scaling M+ dungeons also offer a challenge to even the most gifted players.
not saying retail is a bad game. but its a bad mmorpg
The only real issue with the version is that they made Anniversary their own space. All they needed to do was make TBC servers but instead they tanked Era. It will recover but it was an absolutely pointless waste of time.
Agreed, it’s really rewarding and challenging content. I enjoyed it for many years. It’s not the same vibe as Era though, which is a good thing. It appeals to a different audience. People ragging on retail is really silly, but that’s human tribalism for you. Soccer is dumb because I like football, lulz!
Yep.
Good story can carry bad, to some, gameplay elements.
Good gameplay elements can have you go okay I guess we can ignore the bad story to stay positive about something.
By DF for me…they opted to make bad story and bad gameplay elements across the board. And I had nothing left.
some say wow story even here is not great. I’d not argue with them in a few cases. Gameplay is decent though.
No Classic, no sub.
And to go even further, if they don’t do TBC Era, that will be the end for me as well.
Totally agree.
Not doing TBC Era would be a very bad decision.
Interesting take, would you then say the same for Hardcore? That it being less difficult than Retail, let’s just say Retail PvP?
Right now, if there wasn’t hardcore I wouldn’t even have a subscription. Having all these different ways to play wow is what’s keeping it alive. Players want different ways to play wow. If you take out one, that doesn’t translate to the same player moving to the other expansion. If they removed hardcore, I would just stop playing.
No there is no way to keep everybody in the same version - For instance I would quit immediately if Era HC was not available.
having fewer extra lives doesn’t make the levels any more difficult… so I’d say ‘no’. it’s jsut another form of limited attempts which most players actually hate.
I didnt mind retail , i reached a point towards my desire to switch i was just flying around and herbing to make gold because i didnt want the stress of pushing M+ and i already did my other weekly stuff . The world felt like a single player mmo so often it got boring.
If they dont make a tbc era ill probably just unsub and go back to ps5 or something
there is no split or what so ever.
each version of wow have it’s audience
it’s not like if classic got shutdown people will go play retail.
