Legion Shadow Priest was a such a huge deviation from the original that it’s truly unfair to essentially have made an entire other gameplay that people fell in love with only to reverse it. It was one of the most rewarding and fun gameplay styles for many of us. I know it wasn’t competitive in the higher Mythic + cause of ramp/balancing for a lot of people, but I adored it and it glued me to the game.
Please please please, SPLIT the Shadow Priest between two specs, Void Form/Madness based and Shadow Orb based for those that disliked it.

Legion was never intended to be a playstyle that survived more than 1 expansion.

It was competitive in higher M+ its was garbage in lower M+. You just needed to be pulled around even more than is required in season 2 of DF.
may not have been “intended to survive” but it was fun, and unique, and i want it back. playing around keeping a resource up to continue a burst window is a fun concept.

Idk why you claim that it was never intended to survive. Discipline, Survival, Demonology were all changed as much as Shadow and the foundation set in Legion has lasted to Dragonflight. What makes you think it was any different for Shadow?

I used to main spriest before Legion happened and I miss the orb version. However I know a lot of people love voidform too so I completely agree. I keep trying to go back to my spriest but right now it just feels like a mess of two conflicting specs and it’s not fun because it’s so busy, but not a fun busy. It’s just messy.

It seems so easy for them to do this idk why they don’t. Almost every spec tree is basically split into 2 themes and you kind of choose between them or a hybrid ish.
Idk what the classic shadowy play style was but that could be the left half and the right have can be bfa void priest with infinite stacking void form. Starting with a mandatory choice node of dark wings vs void form.
Obviously one is just gonna be “meta” regardless but I get to swap between fire/lightning ele shaman whenever and do fine. Or haste vs nuclear bomb havoc dh. Who cares if one is more meta.
