Spiteflayer = Same Stats as Regular Carrion Bird

Disappointed to find this out. I did not know about other so called “Rare” Pets, but I would imagine that the same would apply to them too.

Fair warning not to waste your time going after these pets.

This is on Classic.

I don’t remember when Blizz changed it, but that made it so all pets do the same amount of damage. They took away the uniqueness of them aside from pet families and skins. We can’t pick the talents any more either or spec. But yes, if you’re hunting a rare, it’s because you want that skin, not for the extra damage.

I understood that was the case for retail, but I thought classic to be different. I guess I wasted my time running around blasted lands when any old bird would do.

For those that are curious, Spiteflayer was supposed to come with a 1.2 attack speed. In hindsight, I guess that wouldn’t be practical. With talents that would drop it well below 1.0. Would be fun to watch.

Still though, the classic hunter pet feels so much more a part of the class than retail, even having it’s own talent tree. No more changes please. It is the “Normalization” or rather the “Diablolization” of the class that killed it for me, to the point that in retail any blob that you use is a good as the other.

Pets got normalized back in tbc pre-patch afaik.

Correct. This shouldn’t have been a surprise to OP
