/spit wasn’t removed because of “wokeness”

It was removed because people where spitting on boosted toons and Blizzard makes $$ off of selling boosts. It’s naive to take social justice tinged HR speak at face value. This is a corporation trying to wring all the revenue they can out if the warcraft IP with minimal investment. They don’t care about the community or social justice. They just don’t want to alienate customers of their cash shop.

Yet now they’ve alienated players who think removing /spit was going too far regardless. It’s like this company is incapable of thinking ahead and predicting how their fellow human beings will respond. “Do you guys not have phones?”

Seems like the obvious recourse would be to suspend players who abuse the emote, but that would require them to actually do their jobs.

Imagine being one of those people that is this upset over an emote being removed lol

Then why are the other rude emotes still in game while only /spit was talked about online by at least one streamer yet magically it’s the only one that’s gone now? A little riddle for you to ponder.

Hasnt it just been removed from the TBC PTR?

Me personally, I’ve been wanting it taken out of the game for a very long time, long before current events. Its disgusting in real life and there’s no justification for it still being in the game. I’ll be very happy to see it gone if it carries through into retail.

How do you tell if a toon was boosted at this point?

Hm, no loss there if they all vanish, really, is there? Especially the ones on Moonguard… :sunglasses:

Yeah

Now flip it around

Imagine being one of those people that is this upset over an emote lol

Good, they deserve it.

I don’t think that many people were actually upset. I’ve personally read more accounts of people being upset over it’s removal rather than it’s existence

Then riddle me this

The point of its removal if the people effected by it don’t care, and on the opposite side people care about it being removed.

To me sounds like a pointless/lose situation

Nobody is actually upset. It’s just another thing to add to the list of things that will divide woke people from non woke people when civil war breaks out.

I think Blizzard made the choice based on how the emote was used against people who had in store products. I don’t think it was so much a feelings thing.

I mean there’s toxicity in many emotes, ever did ranked arenas? about one in 3 games someone uses the “yells at his teammates” emote when one side loses, let’s just remove all emotes, dancing on corpses, remove sit cause you can t-bag.

Has there been an official explanation as to why it’s being removed or is it just all knee jerk speculation? Maybe they just don’t want it in their game because they don’t like it anymore. Is there any proof it is because of people buying store mounts?

This is not real life.

Thus ought all emotes be removed but them required for achievements and quests, for lack they justification likewise.

I mean… those are emotes that people are turning toxic. Dancing or sitting, in itself, is not toxic. But spitting cant really be turned positive, so I do see somewhat of a thought process there. I never used the emote so it doesn’t affect me
