Spirit bomb question

Should I be using spirit bomb during single target encounters or only for AOE???

It’s a DPS gain for both single target and AOE. You should try to use it with maximum (5) soul fragments though.

At the very least, try to get 4 fragments. 6 and over is wasted fragments - as mentioned below.

If you have both Spirit Bomb and Fracture talented (the recommended Bomb build), you use Spirit Bomb whenever you have 4+ fragments (because if you have 4, generating a 5th with Fracture would also generate a 6th that would be “wasted” by being auto-consumed, thus not giving you the damage it otherwise could). Whether you have 4 or 5 when it comes time to use Bomb largely depends on whether Immo Aura was up, since it generates (at least) one fragment via Fallout.

Overall, the goal with a Bomb build is to consume all of your soul fragments via Spirit Bomb, always in batches of 4+ (since Spirit Bomb’s damage scales, but it always consumes a fixed 30 pain and 1 GCD, so you want to maximize that GCD), and to consume absolutely 0 fragments via Soul Cleave (and ideally 0 from walking over them, too, since those souls also give you no damage). In this build, you only use Soul Cleave to burn off excess pain after using Spirit Bomb, but before Fracture comes back up. Note, however, that the Bomb build almost always generates more pain than it has the GCDs to burn off, and that’s not really a problem, since Soul Cleave’s healing is pretty bad. Don’t worry about overcapping pain, just use Soul Cleave as filler between Bomb and Fracture coming back off CD (though remember that you can delay the first Fracture cast by up to 2 GCDs after it comes off cooldown without it hitting 2 charges, which you absolutely must avoid). Immo Aura and Sigil of Flame are both still higher priority than Soul Cleave.
