The energy spend from Spinning Crane Kick does not contribute to the energy spent component of Flurry in the Shadow Pan hero talent tree.
To Test :
Hit a dummy with Spinning Crane Kick over and over and flurry will never trigger.
Expected behavior:
At some point flurry should proc
Actual behavior:
Flurry never procs

Yeah, We reported this in March. We reported in in April. We reported it in May. We reported it in June. I could even dig up some old beta threads about it. By the way, it’s not just Spinning Crane Kick
Shado-Pan is bugged to hell and back for both WW and BrM.
Even better, our 4-piece set bonus actively hinders our hero talent. There’s a weak-aura out that cancels our set bonus. But, we’re arguably the least played of ALL specs in WoW. So no one cares.
Edit:
Here’s one from 3 weeks ago - let me go back further Shado pan brewmaster extremely bugged

I really hope they look into brewmaster some more. It’s not very enjoyable at this time. Shadow pan is buggy, harmony feels very lackluster, our capstone talents are mostly movement based, and our 4 piece set hinders the Shadow pan ability. I really dislike being this much dependant on healers in M+ content.

To be fair, this was Blizzard’s express plan,. They repeated it a hundred times, straight from the mouths of the lead developers. Tanks had become essentially immortal in Dragonflight. Some +20s were done without healers at all! Blizzard wanted to make tanks more reliant on healers and they gutted tank self healing.
The problem is, they only really did it for Prot Paladin and Brewmaster. The other tanks are still out here infinitely healing without too much healer involvement. I had a Guardian Druid in a Necrotic Wake +8 last week doing 1mil HPS to himself most big pulls. Like, what? Why does Brew and Prot Paladin lose all their self healing but Guardian, Vengeance and Blood DK keep all theirs? I can sort of understand Blood DK, but definitely not the other two.
Regardless, Brew is still very good. They’re currently being chosen for most of the Race to World First bosses. Stagger is still an insane amount of EHP. For Mythic+, we’re probably the weakest tanks, but that doesn’t make us bad. I did a 10 Ara’Kara last week, and a bunch of 7s and 8s. I’m about 2000 rating and only i609. I never felt like a liability to the group. In fact, when I play my main (Spriest) with other tanks, I often feel like the runs go 10x smoother with my Brew than with these other people. A lot of it is just a skill issue.
But don’t hold your breath for Brew getting much attention. As usual, we’re going to have to scale out of our problems. Brew is historically the heaviest scaling tank in the game. We’re often dogwater the first raid tier and get progressively stronger from there. Next tier we’ll be in much better shape and by the end of TWW we will be monsters. This is how it has been since Legion. For those that don’t like this, I’d suggest not playing Brew until later into expansions. The same can often be said for Fire Mage, Feral, Spriest and Balance Druid.

Definitely still viable, just not as fun. I haven’t played Prot pally or VDH, but as you said, My guardian and Blood DK are easily keeping themselves alive. Also my prot warrior is out healing my BM. Would just be nice to get the bugs fixed… And maybe replace some dead talents with more brews
Thank you for the perspective. It actually makes me feel a bit better. It’s also nice to see brew doing really well in raid.
I’ve been struggling pretty badly as brew in M+ so far this season and it has not been very fun. There are a combination of things at play but brew has gotten the shortest end of the stick with the tank nerfs. It’s been much worse than I anticipated going into the xpac.
I know that we scale a LOT over the course of the xpac, but I’ve been dooming more than a bit over how the spec currently feeling in dungeons. I still hold out hope that the devs will address some of the issues, even though historically… yeah, no.
Edit: Also, I feel the need to clarify that the gear I have on as of writing this post is my WW set.
An excuse really. I also tank in mostly WW gear. I have 32% crit and 11,000 haste. I have 2% vers. I timed a +10 this week, and about six +7/8s. I do between 500k and 700k HPS to myself on big pulls, my tiger’s palms are critting for 1.4mil damage. I feel absolutely fine in these dungeons. And I only have 2-set and i609. Any Brewmaster complaining about the spec in anything less than a +8-+10 or so is almost entirely a skill issue (either the monk themselves, or the group they’re running with).
I do agree that we will struggle in the higher keys, but 99.9% of players won’t be doing them. I’m just going to do my +10s for portals and hit my usual 3k rating and be done with the season. If I can do a +10 in crappy gear, itemized for WW, then you can too.
DISCLAIMER: I don’t PuG. I play with a top 100 world Rshaman, a 99th percentile parsing Arcane Mage and a rogue currently ranked #1 on his server. We have a few people we swing in for the 5th spot, but usually Aug Evoker. The comp is Brew/Rshaman/Arcane/Assassination/Aug, we’re all in voice chat, we’re all food/flask buffed and we’re all 20-year Veterans of WoW playing at a very high level. My experience on Brew is potentially a-typical. I could see Brews perhaps struggling in PuGs with trash players. But that is NOT a Brewmaster problem, that’s a group problem. I don’t main Monk, I main priest, so I have a unique perspective in that I do a ton of high keys as a DPS. I can 100% attest that other tanks are struggling in these keys MORE than my Brewmaster. They’re taking more damage, requiring more healing and often bring less utility. My runs go smoother on Brew than on my priest. I average about 380k damage-taken-per-second (DTPS) on my Brew and I frequently see i615-i619 Guardians and Blood DKs taking 500-600k DTPS. Granted, they self-heal more, but still, very spiky. My Brew is not spiky. The only thing I want is more ox orbs, stronger expel harm, and WAY more damage. Damage is the problem. I do 1mil DPS on a big pull but Vengeance and Prot Warriors are doing 2-3mil DPS on the same pulls. That feels bad.
