You know, for the short range we have, our mobility isn’t as good as it should be. Not nearly. It’s all proactive, there’s nothing reactive you can do. This is especially punishing for devastation, for whom all damage comes from not getting your disintegrates interrupted.
This is made especially difficult by blizzard’s decision to make this the expansion of getting knocked back, knocked up, and knocked out.
My ideas in this thread are primarily targeted at devastation, which is in a good place numbers-wise right now, but is more punished by needing to move outside of hover than the other two specs. I know devastation’s biggest problem is survivability and lacking a niche that Aug does not also provide, but this is a bit of a problem as well, and i would like to draw some attention to it.
Idea 1: Make disintegrate like eyebeam. Techinically always castable while moving, but you are reduced to 2% movement speed while casting it. Hover would bring you up to full speed, but getting knocked around without it would not interrupt your cast.
Idea 2: Have essence burst give 2 seconds of hover when consumed. Long enough to cast one and chain a followup before it wears off.
Idea 3: Just have Disintegrate be always castable while moving at full speed. Why not? BM hunters can have the entire world on the move, why can’t we?
Idea 4: Let us use hover while casting. Net 0 additional mobility, just removes the requirement of being proactive.
Idea 5: Reduce the CD of hover by 10 seconds for devastation. Everything’s the same, but more often.
Idea 6: Increase range by 5 yards. Still mid range, but further away. Range was one of the most annoying points of our Sarkareth kill strategy. Having to sit at, and regularly dip outside of max range during P1 to drop the bombs in good places was not fun gameplay.
Devastaion just needs a little push. I’ve gotten used to the proactive usage of hover, but sometimes i wish i didn’t have to think so hard about optimal use. That is all.
