Spellsteal: Transfer

Hi hi, a concept I’ve always loved for Spellsteal was giving stolen spells to whichever ally we wanted. Anyone else think this would be fun?

This is mainly aimed at pvp but I think this could be a talent in the class tree or a added on passive to one of Spellslingers passive nodes. I say all that because I think having this be its own pvp talent wouldn’t be grand enough for a slot of its own and plus there’s plenty of stuff you could transfer from pve too.

That’d be great! I actually like the idea of spellsteal operating like mass barrier, like an additional talent point into “mass spellsteal” and all spells stolen are passed onto the 4 nearest allies.

Yea something like that can work. With this idea I’m big on us having control of who gets what though as “masters of magic”. So perhaps if i SS three spells, from the most recent one if you SS a Ally they would get it going down to the first one. This would help too for buffs we get that don’t benefit us, like Evoker raid buff. SS a reduced cd sprint; put that on your rogue, etc.

Really love this as it leans into us bending magic in and of itself!

Love it in theory but could be kinda cumbersome trying to funnel buffs on top of everything else…and if affected your whole team then spellstealing eg PI would be insane lol.

Yeah, if they did it I can see only two things happening: either a mage would be practically mandatory in most groups because of Spellsteal or spellstolen buffs would be so weak to not even be worth the GCD and mana spent to combat them being too powerful. Some very strong buffs we can steal don’t affect us because they trigger on melee damage, but giving it to others would likely be OP.

They could simply add a cooldown to spellsteal that goes with it (similar to the option that steals all spells now), so it’s be on a longer cycle, you couldn’t just have a mage in the group that spams spellsteal Nd passes to everyone else, it’d be like every 15-20 seconds something like that.

Now if we wanted to design a truly epic version it would be a mass spellsteal that hit a really big area around your primary target, which stole all spells from that entire group and then put them onto the players nearby the mage. Like a whole groups buffs transferred onto your whole group. Would need like a 3 min cooldown or something, but would be fun to unload in battlegrounds.

Something like Demon Hunter’s Reverse Magic, but like… reversed…?

if they added this to the tree it could be a choice node. One of them is how i would like which allows the mage control over who gets what and the other can be your which is a more so chaotic aoe version. Both concepts fit arcane. Choice noding it too could be nice as mine is more skill/knowledge based since the mage could end up messing it up easily.

Unless it only specifies a singular target to pass along(though can be a completely separate ability, it can be quite over-powered. Some buffs just aren’t meant for Warriors to use.

As for Mass Spellsteal, that definitely would need to be a PvP talent only.
