Oh so nice!
I already think we are good, but this will bring us back!

What were they anchored to before?
This will be consequential for sure and narrow the gap with Sunfury significantly.
Just when I thought Splinterstorm couldn’t be any more underwhelming, lol. Now that they’ve sorted out the mediocre damage they really need to give it an actual visual and we might be cooking.
They can hotfix to nerf Spellslinger, but can’t hotfix to buff it. Why Blizzard?
Likely will need more Spellslinger buffs still, especially aoe.
Part of the large disparity between Spellslinger and Sunfury is the amount of Arcane Barrage casts a Sunfury arcane mage gets to make, which are so many more than Spellslinger. And on top, these arcane barrages are even stronger courtesy of the hero talents.
Then you have 5 spellfire spheres giving extra % spell damage, so add that to barrage.
The arcane splinters alone will never match that.
And neither will the extra arcane orbs spawned by spellslinger, which not only do pretty mediocre damage themselves, but the extra arcane charges they will give you will get munched because they often launch right after you’ve launched an arcane orb or maxed stacks with something else.
If you look at damage distribution of arcane mages in any M+, Arcane Barrage is ahead by a landslide, and one problem Spellslinger has relative to Sunfury is the arcane charge economy for Sunfury is far better and smoother, with less subject to RNG procs.
Arcane Explosion needs divine intervention.
That’s… not feasible to keep. At all. Firstly SFT proc rate got applied to Frost as well, secondly there’s no way in HELL that should stay on Arcane.
SFT at 5% procs like crazy. We’re so back baby.
fine in mythics but fell behind in raids, should be a nice boost
Orbs need need to get a boost in damage for SS
I agree with you there. It sucks we have to wait till December for spell slinger to perform better with arcane. However, spell slinger is doing very well with frost atm. These new changes would be a buff to the spec. I am worried it could trigger a nerf since Spell slinger frost is doing pretty well in normal raids and other content atm. Also frost fire hero is still really weak for both frost and fire specs. I really like fire spec but even with the new changes, it still does not preform as well as arcane and frost.
but i just heard Were losing 50% splinters sigh
Oh really? That will break us pretty quick. So far I’ve been hanging on to SS as it trails SF, but if they just straight up tank us, I’ll have to yield.
But honestly, with how much I like delves maybe it doesn’t matter. Like when I log on I’m like “ok, so I can run mythic dungeons I don’t like, with people who don’t like me, or try and get into a raid I don’t like, or solo some delves and feel tough…delves it is”. Oh and tailoring, that’s my other jam.
Yeah, I can understand this. I use a spell slinger build in m+ that is super fun and so far very competitive. I think with a little help, it would be the better option. The extra orb charge is huge as it can generate tons more and the 4 pc set bonus is kinda nice. I wish I could fit in the mastery bonus talent and I don’t see why it’s a two point node anymore, it should be 1 point for the 40% bonus. This would make gearing more of a build choice, and once you get into the bottom tier of the tree, it should be more powerful.
With the new affix that summons the balls, you can just spam orbs/ barrage soon as you hear the voice line and it does crazy damage. Your damage of course comes from empowering barrages.
Yes, this was hard for me to drop out of, because I’ve run Mastery stats for years and years. I was thinking today, I wonder how I could get it back in, but the talent point sink is just too much. I have 2-piece only so far, but a couple week easy to round out the 4 piece, and hoping that is a good boost.
In m+ at least, I tried dropping magi spark for it and it was close, because I don’t always get full spark value, I usually run nether spark in M+ to get better value, but at 40% I would build mastery and run it over spark
I was running spark, but struggled to get the blasts in, because I didn’t like the cast time, which then made me want to take presence of mind, so I could insta cast blast and it wouldn’t hold me back, which would then make me drop a talent to pick up PoM and I just ended up going with the passive option on ToM capstone. For the most part it’s working out.
Do you run PoM with Spark, just curious?
Tried it, I love POM but it did not work because we need the cast time for the “bug” to work, once this “fix” comes in I think it might be a good option.
Despite what the sims say, my experience is that the splinter damage isn’t that significant and more of a bonus, the real power comes from the fact they can return charges and the way you can then “sling” them to keep up momentum and scales it’s self.
If you play with a support evoker, I think it would be possible to build an entire instant cast build, with low haste and high mastery/crit
In the right group, it gets to the point where I am at a large range ( to get extra orb value) queuing spells based on the fact, I THINK I will have charges vs when I know it have them. It’s a very fun play style.
we should get a buff but i have no issues running mythics which i like better then raids
