Spells/Particles: Enough already and fix this!

As a melee class, and have heard same complaints by casters, spell particles are getting annoying!

I even read one comment on reddit “I didn’t make melee because of this issues” and the provided screenshots is proof enough.

THERE NEEDS TO BE A NEW SETTING ADDED!

Players should have the ability to turn down other players particles in this game and this has been a request for years, not months. It’s bad and to the point melee cannot even see their character/animation/spells/abilities and sometimes the actions.

“just turn down your spell particles, duh!”
this actually causes more issues than good. When turned down too far you don’t see the abilities provided by the boss/mob you’re encountering. Plus why would you want to turn down all spell particles when it is not yours that’s the issue?

This is honestly a 15min fix in the game and easily implemented giving users the ability to turn down those spells not inflicted by main user and boss/mob. Personally for PVE I do not care to see a single spell by any ranged in the raid, period. It does me not good (other than calling out the Hunter for pulling early/accidentally). Honestly most games during, after and today have provided this feature in their products for over a decade. Why this is still an issue in WoW and has been requested many times over the years and continually gets ignored is beyond me. Sad to say the least.

Provide Us the following

  • Ability to turn down other player spell particles
  • Ability to adjust boss particles separately from person/other players

This is not a complete restructuring of WoW in allowing/providing us this ability in the games settings. This will not takes massive amounts of hours and development teams to implement this simple solution. If it does? Then “you’re doing it wrong”. As someone who understands and works in this field can tell you.

Want to see a shocker example of how this should look? Gander ahoy my mates at what Blizzard themselves are showing you here!
https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/ ← that’s how raid-boss particles should look on boss fights. Just watch the encounter film on the backdrop of the website. Tell me if that’s not messed up they show that but we can’t have that in our game…

Here’s what we get instead, a coagulated crap-storm and instead this is what we get:

HBO, Blizzard: Help a Brother Out and kindly give us the ability to turn down other player spell particles in CVAR, please!

Sometimes it’s hard to see properly in large numbers

Chaos bolt is the worst.

No thanks. Spell effects have already been butchered plenty so that people can see easier.

hence the word “option” @Deathage

I get reading that word is optional but really: options provide you and I the same ultimate goal.

Load up your game, copy + paste this in chat.

Should help a bit.

You just don’t like seeing the clusterstorm of graphical effects?
Or is this a performance issue?

Also, in those videos you only see a few spell effects because there only seem to be a few casters in those fights. Most of what you see are melee rushing in against the boss.

In reality, half a raid is going to be casters/ranged.

hey @Impsi
yes I’ve seen that option and unfortunately it doesn’t lower others spell effects. It’s not so much to see mine but to tone down caster particles to see the mob I’m actually fighting that’s the issue

But this is blizzard. They don’t give options so I would rather it not exist in the first place. That’s what people used to say about new character models and animations, “you don’t have to use them”. Yeah well guess how that turned out in legion.
