Look at all these item changes with spellpower on them. Were spellcasters really so undertuned at 40 that they need all this?

Most of those items have less spell power than BFD gear, this is just catch-up gear for alts who don’t have 3 months worth of BFD gear, very good change, should have been the case even in 2004.

Yes, however the fun part is the new world buff from the raid gives melee 20% haste so, grats on being middle of the pack again as a warlock.
I actually main a hunter, and I’m not exactly enthused about the gear and runes datamined.
This. The difference between a BFD geared mage and a no BFD gear is massive. They needed some kind of catchup.

You got verdant keepers aim, BIS 49 twink weapon in the form of a gun that also has 24 AP. And physical damage classes aren’t really ever at risk of their dps stat competing with other core stats like stamina, the generic caster staff is a worse lvl 42 dungeon blue with 4 stam/4 int. They make casters pay for EVERYTHING with either mana pool or health pool, which is getting really tiresome.
Overall, it looks like the power creep has slowed way down except for the epic weapons.
For pvp, hunters will probably still do crazy good damage, their gear also comes with a ton of INT which is a horizontal increase in power rather than a raw dps increase, but assuming more raw power is off the table it is going to make them have a lot more staying power, especially in AB/WSG/STV. Once you have mostly lvl 40 gear you will definitely have far more AP than now. My hunter sits at about 500 RAP, there is no reason you can’t expect to have 800+ just from lvling and the new gear/enchants/talents.
This is an amazing change because it makes professions somewhat useful and gives us spell casters a lovely boost, especially for Paladins who didn’t get any good casting gear from BFD!
They saw how under tuned spell casters are in Phase 1 so they upped the gear for spell casters? Like why is this a shocking revelation. Spell Casters were trash ALL Phase 1, this might actually give them a chance at coming CLOSE to maybe 2nd or 3rd place overall in DPS.
If the data mined priest runes are accurate I’m never joining another BG. Stupidest things I’ve ever seen.
1x rune making them immune to basically everything and giving increased mana regen, as well as being usable while cc’d

WT actual F. On all the cloth/mail/plate they got rid of the spirit to add spell power, yet on all the leather they got rid of the INT to add spell power? What stupid trash nonsense is this?
Leather casters screwed over for 20 years and still going.
We’re under tuned in Vanilla in general.

It’s needed for the fact that BFD gear is so much more powerful than anything else available from 1-40 spellpower wise.
At 25 I have more spell power than what having the entire Mage T 1 set would give me at 60.
Given that mechs are immune to bleeds and poisons, casters wont be far behind when the current top melee lose 20+% of their damage
