The most vacant spot for a hero class is Spellbreaker, a plate-wearing magic wielder. Could be inspired by the Nightborne. Wields a shield, and a glaive like Demon Hunters, but one handed.
Tank, DPS, and Heal.
Healers could use time magic to reverse the damage of wounds, Tank could specialize in reflecting or being immune to certain things, DPS can have some of those abilities Tank has but with more focus to damage instead of defense.
They’ve appeared throughout the game as a boss in the Nighthold, as guards for the Violet Hold, guards for Silvermoon, units in Wc3, mobs in the Thunder Isle, and yet there’s no class in the entire game that can relate to that idea, a melee arcane-using plate wearer.
If they add a new hero class, I highly doubt it will be another melee.
Physical ranged damage is the most likely option, which would leave us with shadow hunters, dark rangers, wardens and tinkers.
Tinkers would require the least animation variation cross-faction, so that’s what I’m betting on, but spellbreaker probably isn’t happening by virtue of being melee.
It’s a cool character concept, and I’d totally be for it, but I highly doubt it’s even on the list for the next three potential classes.
I don’t think it’s needed. Back on ToT when they added spellbreakers to the world, they were just Warriors spamming Spell Reflect. Just roll a Warrior and spam Spell Reflect and Mass Reflect lol
tinkers wouldn’t be a hero class. They would be a base class like monk. The next hero class will likely either be necromancer or a “dragonsworn” class to tie in with the future of the dragonflights.
Necromancer would probably sooner be a DK or Warlock spec than be implemented as the next class. It’s certainly more likely than spellbreaker, but I’m skeptical.
This really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things: Monks were supposed to be a cloth class, initially.
Mail would round things off nicely and fit the presumably better quality armor a tinker or dark ranger would be rocking.
