Spelladin spec for phase 2 pvp? anyone have info on viability?

any info much apprectiated. thanks

The gear really isn’t in the game yet and won’t be in phase 2.

You need either the Judgement set or the Soulforge set.

Right now the only way to do shockadin is to use a bunch of cloth / leather off-set pieces, which is an automatic death sentence for pvp purposes.

so not the shockadin build, rather the current ret +spellpower builds that use the mcp touted by Dex and Judgement

Same thing.

There just isn’t the requisite plate gear in the game for this build (for pvp) right now, and that is the simple end of it.

No plate gear for it yet. Best bet for pvp this early is to get best plate you can and heal someone else.

Trying to wear cloth/leather spellpower gear is going to get you absolutely trounced in pvp.

Having played paladin in vanilla and pvp’d a fair bit on it (Ryalt on Mannoroth if you want to look it up) the spelladin/shockadin thing is viable. It can even be a thing with cloth/leather/mail items if you want - but it takes away some of your survivability through armor.

I mainly did ret/holy when doing solo pvp but did holy/ret for some group pvp grinds that we did (premade AB/WSG groups with people grinding for Grand Marshal).

It’s neat but it’s not OMG THIS IS AMAZING neat. You heal harder and you hit like a truck with your offensive spells. Having holy shock be useful is nifty for healing and damage. It’s basically focusing on a damage/healing set instead of just a + healing set and so it’s a lot to play with.

Long story short - it works. Is it better than gearing for healing or for ret? That’s really your call. Personally I’m happy enough with ret for damage and holy when healing - but if you want to combine healing/holy into one damage/healing monster than have at it.

It’s not really sustainable for longer PvE fighting though but can be quite bursty - which is what you need in PvP. Pair up with a smite spec priest and you’ll be rough and unexpected lol

How are you gonna pvp by relying on manual crowd pummelers? you would need 50 slot bags

so thank you for the replies.

im not looking to a shockadin caster
im wondering if the same mcp based ret melee proc build will work in pvp as well.
i dont know if anyone has any experience with using that build in pvp.

as far as using 100% mcps, prob not.
ill use a brainhacker with fire enchant and shadow oil or frost oils.

Not likely. Your melee time on target as a paladin is very poor since you don’t have a slow, and other issues. To successfully melee in pvp you need either heavy Burst, or heavy control. The MCP paladin build has neither.

I always liked regular old ret with a big slow 2her. The weird proc items are fine for PvE - as something will proc in most boss fights - but aren’t as great for PvP.

The biggest thing about Paladin is that you have to go full retard if you want to be good at any of the specs or options for it.

Arcanite Reaper + Crusader was a blast on my paladin.
Earthshaker (from MC) for the AoE knockdown was great too - really clutch in AB I feel or bigger spots. When it proc’d and you had a bunch of people around you it really made you feel like you were making a difference.
