Spell Slinger Fans Thread

With the updates yesterday/today, it would seem SpellSlinger is finally a viable (and maybe even prefered) option. For those if us who’ve been fans from the start this is good news, but would love to have a thread for tips/tricks/try-it-outs and just general SS discussion.

What I love about SS is the rapid-fire and hot potato feel of it, between barrage, missiles, orbs, and barrage, and orbs, and hit missiles again…very fun playstyle for me, which I totally dig. Because a lot of the procs are RNG based, you never really know what you’re gonna get, but with the orbs granting charges, the 4-piece tier granting charges, the new talent granting charges, and anytime you are at full charges being able to throw barrage and likely proc an orb, it just is a lot of fun. Then splinterstorm shows up in the middle of it all with splinters doing their damage (almost in a totally passive way, since I’ve never tracked them).

It seems like you can talent all over the place and still do fine. I was rocking Haste/Vers earlier, but decided to go back the way of Mastery/Crit (and talent the mastery savant thing) and find I like it better this way, and pull haste from the talents and the 2-piece crafted set.

With the new talent that replaced “double dipping” we got a WAY better deal than the double dip ever was because it now grants full arcane charges as well. This makes the Single Target Rotation very enjoyable (from my perspective). They also boosted clearcasting proc rate, so that we can stay in the loop much much longer, feel about right, whereas before we always seemed to hit a cold spell.

I’m still on the fence for the Supernova hero talent, i REALLY like the idea of it, but not sure even at 20% per stack x 30 stacks (600% damage) that is competes with the alternative which is just passive aoe damage from splinters. If anyone plays it, let me know and I may switch…or I might try it out anyway. The real limiting factor is getting supernova off cooldown in order to benefit from it at all.

Cool other thoughts from you guys, post em. Cool trinkets??? Cool combos? Just anything.
