Spell Reflection

Spell Reflection now reflects “1” spell on 5 secs of duration. It was way better 3 seconds of duration and reflect everything on that lapse of time . i find spell reflection useless for pvp now.

Just AMS or AMZ…

Seems like a higher skill cap spell to me now.

I think having it baseline with one spell > needing to spend a PvP talent for 3s.

It has a higher skill cap but it’s great to have baseline in PvP and PvE.I would hardly call it useless, reflecting CC or big spells is super useful. We just can’t use it to become immune to a casters burst for 3s like in the past.

While the first part is accurate,

I disagree. It doesn’t have as much to do with skill. It’s a bigger window if you see someone hard casting, meaning that it’s going to reflect something if you just want to mong. It’s just flat out less effective, especially in BGs or when being focused. Even if it is easier to use.

Compare the functionality. 3 seconds of reflects means you can bounce multiple casts from multiple users, which means that you could use it when being focused by 3 casters simultaneously, reflecting, say, an Azerite Power, a Polymorph, and a Frost shock all at once provided that they hit you in the same 3 second window, making it more punishing and more defensive simultaneously.

And it gave you three seconds of immunity against direct cast spells and a minimum 3 seconds of 20% spell damage reduction.

As it is, you can be juked, even unintentionally so by reflecting a junk spell to strip the buff and then hit with a Chaos Bolt. Let’s say someone cast a Frost Shock, you’d reflect that and then get hit by a Chaos Bolt. Or get hit by a lightning bolt and eat a hammer. Even if you’re watching hard casts and time it beautifully.

And that isn’t necessarily a matter of skill because instant casts exist.

Oh, and you lose the 20% spell damage reduction as soon as you get hit by a fireball, meaning you eat more from magic DoT ticks and AoE. From anybody, even that item level 85 mage standing in the corner of Alterac.

Conversely, with the new build you just reflect one skill on 5 seconds. You can usually hurrrr it in arena and still reflect something because it’s up for a long damn time.

Arguably, the only way in which it is better is in a raid or dungeon environment where you’re taking AoE magic damage and want to use it as a minor defensive CD.

I don’t how you think that’s not a harder skill cap than just pressing it and being immune like it was in the past?

Yeah, it’s worse of a button but considering its baseline I consider than a huge win.

That’s not really an issue though? You wait for big spells and use it right before the cast goes off, never use it super early. If A warlock is trying to juke Interrupts AND spell reflect even if they do make you use it the time they wasted while you smash their face is worth it. Just takes practice.

So if you’re using it directly before a cast, it’s effectively an instant cast on one spell and the 5 second duration becomes irrelevant.

Especially compared to 3 seconds of persistent reflects.

It’s also possible, especially in a big cluster like Alterac or a BG to get hit with a fireball or an instant cast regardless, pulling your buff. Garbage by comparison to the old model.

Yeah, that’s how you should have been using old PvP only version in arena too unless being burst by a Fire mage or something that would force you to use it then. If you ever fought anyone decent at the game and used it early they would just stop the cast anyway and wait it out.

The only thing I could think of, outside of PvE that makes the 5s duration relevant is using it versus a Ret Pally, they tend to not pay attention to the ability and often let you reflect stuns if you know when to predict them.

Sure in that one situation, no one is arguing that the 3s one was not stronger. Overall though, having it baseline like this > needing to spend a talent on the old one.

Exaggerating a skosh, aren’t we?

Eh its a free ability at worst, at best you blast someones nuke back in their face.

It’s more of an offensive ability now than a defensive one. That’s the major difference.

spell reflect is fine right now, its not useless, it just requires u to have a brain and not hit it and be immune to casted damage for 3 seconds

Jfc spell reflect is better now than it was.

You know the biggest reason why?

Now you don’t have to waste a PvP talent on it.

If you actually think spell reflect is useless now, you’re probably just terrible at the game. Sorry not sorry.

This is such a stupid argument and yet people continue to create posts crying about spell reflect.

You know what? I think we should go back to the BC version of it to where you have to equip a shield to use it.

I’d love to see how much you whine then.

It can be a bit frustrating to use now since so many little useless things can consume it rather than the spell you wanted to reflect, but it’s still amazing to have baseline.

just use it better idk what to tell u

I know you probably give 0 because it’s mostly irrelevant, but still, it is trash in BGs now.

It’s kind of a whatever thing but this spell is painfully bad compared to what it was previously whenever I deign myself to suffer on Ashran or Alterac.

I do think it is a net gain in raiding. 5 seconds at -20% magic damage is a hell of a nice CD.

But…but…then us PVE’rs would be sad too.

honestly to me it looks a lot like people that don’t main warrior or don’t pvp often are ok with the change. in all reality yes, reflecting only 1 spell is useless. considering warriors have very little if any abilities to mitigate caster damage having one that can reflect all spells for 3 seconds is so much more useful in a pvp setting and thats kinda the whole reason the ability was brought into TBC in the first place. It was an amazing tool to turn the tables of battle with a caster and now it doesnt even matter because they just blow you up regardless of your 1 reflected spell. take S priests for example
