This widely reported problem has become unbearable since launch. Many others have complained but they often incorrectly label it as all sorts of things because it feels like input lag and acts like internet lag but it’s neither—it’s the spell queue window becoming fully desynced with your server.
World/home ping: 33ms steady on a 1GB connection, tested at two different locations/networks
Hardware: Two separate and extremely high end laptops: 275HX/5080/64GB and 9955HX3D/5080/32GB. Getting 200fps when this issue occurs so it’s not FPS.
Issue: Melee/high APM classes are unplayable at a high level. You press a spell especially during high haste and GCD will not catch up til it’s 3/4 the way through. Character spell animation also lags behind severely, 3-4 seconds will pass before the spell you press will animate in game.
Addons make no difference whatsoever. Have tried with and without addons even going so far as to do a process of elimination test til nothing was enabled. Then tried a full fresh install of both windows then wow.
Only solution I’ve found is to set spell queue window to my ping or lower. This is death for playing high end content competitively unless you’re a robot. Doesn’t seem to affect casters, it’s mostly retpal, rogue, warrior type classes.
Only thing I haven’t tried is the dreaded /console cvar_default command
