Spell pushback is not fun or good for PvP

Outdated mechanic, pretty sure pushback got reduced in like 3+ expansions since it’s been released. Especially bad in PvP where a 2 second cast becomes 4+ seconds. There’s 10 second Counterspell lockouts, 10 second rogue stuns, Fears, Grenades to stop hardcasting… no reason to make it even more punishing than it is now.

PvP will only get worse if the only caster spells that are viable are uncounterable instant cast spells that deal massively overtuned damage. Void Plague rings a bell, ticking for 220+ every 3 seconds.

Just reduce the time lost to pushback by 50% or so and a lot of specs will feel a lot less awful to PvP as.

Maybe they could offer some PVP-centric runes.

I feel like this sort of comment is (I don’t know the word to use here) for a version of the game literally called Classic.

Casting has a cost occurrence in classic WoW. You either invest talent points into push-prevention, or your spells are deemed too strong to be given innate pushback prevention.

That’s part of the class balance equation in this version of the game.

“I should be able to cast my spell while this guys jamming a sword down my throat without suffering any consequences!”

Sure buddy.

now imagine if explosive shot was meta. each tick triggers pushback per hunter in one of the widest aoes

but guess which healer doesnt care? priests lol. #martyrdom

It’s more so, "I should be able to cast- " ,but yeah it’s kind of an awkward balancing act here. Pushback is a pretty staple pvp mechanic, but it has always been the consensus that instant casts or casts =< 2 seconds are really the only way to go. But now with even more instant attacks, pushback is even more common, meaning those 2 second casts become 4-5 seconds. If you have 2 or more on you, you aren’t going to cast ever. Only option is instant casts for the most part, which makes the meta very concentrated, dull, and repetitive. There’s no counter to it either, it’s not like juking an interrupt, it’s just you have some passive to aid you, or it’s just the end, you have no course of action other than instants or nothing.

Remove homunculi + shadow fiend from the game thanks

yes homunculus is the most annoying thing for other healers with 70% cast reduction

Heroes of the Storm fixed these issues.
Instant cast for casters with cooldowns on their spells.
Gap closers for melee.
All CC under 3 sec.
Dive/disengage mechanics
75% damage/Spell reduction abilities.

I don’t expect are want them to change classic PVP, Blizzard learned much from WOW’s bad PVP when they made Heroes. I like WOW classics broken PVP LOL!.

you’re not though. You’re using a pre-programmed ability with a numerical value. fantasies and ‘common sense’ have never applied to how the game works.

the irony is a large portion of the sod dev team was pulled from hots, even aggrend

It was fixed in TBC where most casters got talents for their spells to prevent pushback, like destr locks.

By being a dead game?

Ya absolutely, Frost Mages have no anti-pushback talents and they’re the highest DPS in the game oh wait a Frostbolt hits for what Void Plague DoT ticks for. This is the “balance” youre referring to ya?

it was the best of the mobas but blizzard being blizzard let LoL get a huge portion of market share while also losing DotA which was spawned from their game using their assets before attempting to get their foot in the moba door, something no moba since the first two was able to do. what a ball drop.

Sword wielding classes have Pummel, Kick, Intercept, Intimidating Shout, Cheap Shot, Kidney Shot. While also hitting you for a ton of damage. I guess those aren’t consequences though.

They should change it to how it worked in TBC with 2 hit limit per cast and no more push back after 2 hits

Oh, hey - my bad, you’re new. Let me help ya out here.

Mage is a class. Frost is a specialization.

If you press N (by default) you can view your specialization trees.

Currently the middle one labelled “Fire” is the highest damage dealing class in the entire game by roughly 15 entire percent! The biggest margin in the entire game. Wild, right?! - There’s a talent on the right hand side, 10 points deep called Burning Soul - Burning Soul reduces push-back by 35% per point, up to 70%! CRAZY!

The left-most tree labelled “Arcane” also has one! If you look at the first row, far right node called “Improved Arcane Missiles”, for 5 points you can be 100% un-pushable on your premier Arcane DPS spell. Arcane Surge is instant cast, and Missile Barrage will make your arcane missiles super-super fast!

But, you’re forgetting one super-duper important thing: In Classic WoW - shielding/absorption effects automatically remove push back while they last. Meaning, Mana Shield and Ice Barrier (both available to Frost mage!) will 100% prevent push-back while casting.

Though be careful! Face-tanking monsters and/or players will have a lot of damage done to your shield very quickly, removing them and making you vulnerable. You’re not face-tanking enemies, right? That’d be super reckless!

But if you’re super super dedicated… It’d be super smart to work on practicing utilizing the built-in slow, and root effects built into Frostbolt automatically to keep distance on enemies. Frost Nova is a great option for if you goof up and need a bail-out. Try not to use both Frost Nova, and Blink simultaneously, it gives up too much of your power in trade! Usually you can frost nova, step away, polymorph, create distance, and reset the fight for 100% free! You can use your summoned food/water to regenerate your health/mana. Then you’re 39 yards away with all of your spells slowing/rooting and having 100% automatic crit scaling + 50% increased crit! No other class can replicate that power.

Remember, though - Paper should always lose to Scissors. That’s part of the realistic trifecta of game balance.

Hope this helps! If you need some more pointers, WoWhead is a great source of game information.

They tried to get dota. The court just said, “nah fam.”

I’m not sure if you have noticed or not, but this is not classic wow and it’s not even close lol
