Spell enchant lvl 1

Just threw spell power on a lvl 1 sword for my mage alt cause i had the gold, why are my spells not hitting for +30 or even feel like its even doing anything? Is it reduced at lower levels or what am i missing? Not a troll post just genuinely confused is all. Thanks

AFAIK spell coefficiants increase as you increase your rank of that spell.

theres some low level spell coefficient numbers and explaination of how it works

Above poster is correct.

You don’t get full benefit from +spellpower until around level 20 ranks of spells.

And not every spell benefits 100% from spellpower either.

All dots get 100% but something like Frostbolt only gets somehwere around 80%.

yeah if u wanna cheese the low levels it’s much better to go with a physical dps class :expressionless: crusader works great

Interesting didn’t know about lvl1-19 spell coeff penality.

So based on that. You frostbit r1 should hit for something like 5 more dmg from your +30 spell dmg.

Indeed, I believe the reasoning is that frost bolt has a non-damage component (the slowing effect) so they get a reduced coefficient.

Also spell damage coefficients will be related to the cast time of the spell if scorch and fireball both has 100% coefficients then there would be a point where it would be better to spam scorch than to ever cast a fireball.

Also spell power coefficient is based on a 3.5 second cast time. Anything that has a faster cast speed will see the benefit reduced.

Thats correct.

Also correct.

All dots are treated as 3.5 casts and it’s based on orignal cast time so talents that lower casting time of spells don’t effect the coefficients of those spells.

Some false information in here. But mostly correct.

First and foremost. The single best way to find out the coefficient is just go to wowhead and look up the spell and rank in question.

As seen in the picture there is an (SP mod) that is your coefficient. Dots use a lower % coefficient as its a per tick coefficient vs normal spells which is a 1 time coefficient. If you look up a spell and it has 0 coefficients that means its a 100% coefficient you will get 1 point of damage per sp.

This is false. It depends on the rank of the dot and what dot it is. For example the above SW:P I linked has a total coefficient of 0.402. Meaning over the whole cast of SWP it only gets 40% of 1 Spell power. But later on at max rank for example it does get 100% of the SP.

Then you look at moonfire and even at max rank of 10 it only gets 52% coefficient (67% if you add the initial damage)

Its not a level thing. Its a spell rank thing. If you use a rank 1 frostbolt at level 60 its still going to have the same bad coefficient.

Sw:pain can actually get something around 130% with the extended duration talent too.

correct, its to stop people downranking too much

imagine u have +1500 healing and u use heal rank 1, it costs like 30 mana and heals for 1575
