I logged in today, and first realized that a bunch of my UI settings had been changed, such as auto loot and target outlines. I spent a few minutes fixing those, and then realized that when I glossed over my spells, it showed the full description of the spell as it appears in the spellbook, something that I didn’t think had been in retail for years. Also, my XP bar text dissapeared. Did Blizz push any small changes through on the back end this week that would’ve messed with people’s settings? For reference, I’m on retail WoW, and I have never downloaded an addon in my life.

Are you using any action bar addons? I don’t know what to tell you otherwise, never experienced this.
I don’t use default action bars, but I want to say there’s an option to change how much info is displayed in tooltips.
No idea why it would randomly change unless you’ve updated an addon that’s effecting it.

Nope, I don’t use any addons, just the default. I looked around the UI settings, because I could have sworn they just disabled showing spell descriptions altogether in one of the later expansions, but I’ll give it another look.
Was you action bar showing too much info as well?
Some of the settings are not persistent. I often log into a character and find my names settings have changed. A new character will have to have their action bars reset several times before it “takes”.
