Spell damage weapons

Shockadin is an undervalued spec in phase 8 and 2h shockadin is quite literally at the bottom of the list on the phase 8 SiM BiS list.

Sunlight was a really nice weapon to be able to test what a “Spell damage” weapon would function like in WoW classic and it seems like something a lot of other players would like to see more of.

Sunlight 100% had to go. It was clearly unintentionally set up how it was and like MOST things that have unintended effects that benefit in a raid setting or provide an unfair advantage are usually patched out.

That being said, I would love to see more spell damage weapons in SoD, its extremely unqiue to see items function the way this one did and being able to play around with it felt very in tune with the spirit of SoD and “Discovering” new things.

At some point in the future, it would be nice to see some more swords, daggers, maces, and axes that function similar to this.
(ofcourse NOT with the 100% 1:1 spell power damage)

But it would be interesting to see some weapons that add up the attack value using both attack power and spell power to a realistic and balanced ratio.

This would enable spellpower tanks to be able to do more dps and hold threat better as well as enabling funny and interesting builds with almost any class being able to create a “spellpower” build based around this new class of weapons.

This would be fun for a lot of things, Shamans, Druids, etc.

Make it so!

Crazy how sunlight was “unfair” when everyone could obtain and use it.

Unfair less in the sense of who can and can’t use it, but in the sense that there were builds that normally do not have this much melee damage that were unexpectedly dealing massive white damage numbers. This could be done by say any healer on the enemy team and they’d basically be an outright menace at melee range and still keep themselves topped up on health.

The idea of adding actual spellpower weapons would include that the weapons not be classified as “fishing poles” so that melee weapon abilities will work with it and hit rating will actually matter.

Could be interesting to see a spell power weapon with a “max” white hit number so you couldn’t cheese it by stacking sp. a bit hard to balance it so it doesn’t favor certain classes with abilities that can take full advantage of it.

As you mentioned you need to be really careful with sp weapons though. I ran it as a healer with a lot of sp as a test and I was in melee killing people with heals going out
