Spell cost and base mana issues

Playing the beta I created a character of level 50 of each healing class, and I could notice that the mana cost of some spells does not correlate with the updates raised in wowhead, consuming less mana than it corresponds, here are the numbers. Here the percentage based on base mana (without any equipment on)

Holy Paladin:
____________________According to wowhead _____________ In the Beta
Crusader Strike ------------------------ 14% ------------------------------- 2.8%
Holy Shock------------------------------- 14% ------------------------------- 2.8%
Holy Prism --------------------------------18% ------------------------------ 2.6%

Resto Druid:
____________________ According to wowhead_____________ In the Beta
Efflorescence ---------------------------17%--------------------------------3.2%
Rejuvenation----------------------------11%---------------------------------2.2%
Lifebloom---------------------------------8%----------------------------------1.6%
Wild Growth-----------------------------22%---------------------------------4.4%

To avoid lengthening the post, this also happens with the shaman. Using the same calculation in the Holy Priest and Monk spells the mana cost,at least in their basic spells is correct.

Pdt: Even though I have the beta I can’t post in the forum. If someone wants to corroborate the data, I leave the link on which I base myself.

Classes with melee-based specs and healing specs, and a mana bar in both - Druids, Paladins, and Shaman - have a passive which increased their mana by 400% when in a healing spec. This is not considered part of the “base mana” for which spell costs are derived from.

The actual passive which grants this is the spec-specific hidden aura (Restoration Druid, Holy Paladin, and Restoration Shaman respectively) . WoWHead lists this incorrect as “Apply Aura: Mod Debuff Resistance - %” with a value of 400%.

The numbers you’re seeing seem to match up exactly with that modifier, in that they’re all reading (from WoWHead) as exactly 5x what they should - which is what you would expect with an actual mana pool 5x the size of the “base” mana pool.

Being that Monks have no access to a mana bar outside of Mistweaver, they don’t need similar modification. And Priests obviously lack a physical DPS spec. Interestingly both Elemental and Balance seem to have lost their corresponding modifier somewhere along the way.

Without this, wouldn’t you think it’s more of a bug that the classes you specify also have listed costs that are significantly higher than Priests or Monks?

Thanks for clarifying the doubt. Although this way of calculating the cost is not friendly, the numbers fit what you say.

I would prefer that they put the percentages equivalent to the total mana.
