How was it different in vanilla? Please explain
First off we were all generally playing with a higher ping.
Second you can go find all the lists of bugs that people have found with batching like FD not working as it used.
None of those explain how “Batching” is any different.
Batching us usually pretty annoying. But I was running through burning steppes a few days ago and I came across a dwarf rogue and an undead rogue both sapped just standing there targeting each other. Was pretty damn funny. Lol
Can’t even count the amount of times I have popped shield wall only to take a 2k crit on the next hit. But at least it put all my CD’s on a 30min timer!!!

If I could look at the source code maybe I could tell you how it’s different.
All we do is give examples of how it’s not working the same. And also why it generally sucks.
I am not arguing that it sucks, but people having faster internet connections doesn’t mean that they changed the batching or implemented it any differently. It just feels different.
It’s not even spell batching as a system that’s a problem, it’s how Blizzard implemented it. On private servers, rogues could blind each other, mages could poly each other, warriors could double charge, etc. But, it was an exception, not the rule. Currently, the delay is ridiculous; kicking casts is far more inaccurate because you need to time it a second or so before the cast actually ends, and it introduces weird bugs and interactions such as players being able to literally walk right over hunter traps because the server doesn’t update their position fast enough. I highly doubt they will fix it on classic servers, but I do have hopes for tbc onward.

Except they did change batching. They’re using the modern game engine which handles batching differently, they explicitly had to try to recreate the 400MS lag of old style batching.
I loved the time I had a warlock dot on me. Popped a major health pot and then died on next tick from 185 damage…of course it uses the potion lol
I just want to say how great it is that so many of us can actually agree on something. Spell Batching sucks.
Most of the time, issues about the game are very split between members of the community. In this thread however, I think one, maybe two people actually admit to liking spell batching?
This is a good start.
I don’t think anyone actually likes it. A few people have argued that it is the same as it was before, but that doesn’t mean they like it.
Edit: I can only make 3 posts in one thread, so have to post extras here.
Can Delimicus and Ziryus please stay on topic? This is not about whether or not spell batching is the same as it was in vanilla, it is about whether it belongs today.

Oh yeah, you should explain how it doesn’t work as it used to, so I can challenge that. I thought you’d be more keen on actually providing real evidence, instead of memory based hearsay.
