Spell Batching is awful

In practice it as awful. Let spells run in the most optimal batches possible

Constantly seeing lag on heal casts and even buggier stuff like the game registering both that the flag was returned and that the flag was picked up again in WSG.

And for what? So warriors can charge each other at the same time?

It’s not worth it. CHANGE SPELL BATCHING

Spell batching creates another level of skill in the game. Vanishing spells, ice blocking death coils, intimidating shouting a hammer of justice, and so on. Sure, they need to tune it a bit more but spell batching is a GOOD thing.

Not sure I’m a huge fan of spell batching, but it is what it is; kudos to them for taking what seems like a minor detail and recreating it for the sake of authenticity.

In practice, it just feels like lag–it makes the game feel less fluid and responsive, it enables unintended or odd lag-driven behavior such as /sit smashing to proc enrage or reckoning. What in 2005 would have just felt like a minor lag spike or delay will feel the same even on your fiber connection, and at the time that bit of delay was on everything, and its going to be a hard adjustment to going back to something less responsive after playing other games for so long—and its not just because its an old game, its built in—because I can launch D2 and play lag free now where I know I was riding the lag waves before.

There’s posts about this issue in the Beta forum.
It’s very noticeable by casters.

Honestly in the beta spell batching is really pissing me off. During vanilla I could chalk it up to my connection now I can’t.

I super love things just randomly not working because even though i hit the ability while it was valid the server randomly decided it wasn’t.

Except it doesn’t all spell batching really does it add another dice roll into every ability you use.

The spell batching in classic is not the same as in the original vanilla game. Read the blue post at the top…they had to implement something in the current code that emulates what vanilla did.

It may need some tweaking though by the devs to get it right so make sure you report it in the Beta forum.

Oddly enough I can’t seem to post there even though I’m in the beta. I also can’t say how much of it is just that spell batching was always terrible since I have a much better connection now.

Well my mage and warlock had no issues with wands and spell batching on modern hardware with current internet speeds when I visited NORTH of DALE last year.
