Speed Leveling?

I have read a lot of threads in the forum about leveling quick.

Hold the Phone! Those speed records you read about? Those were not completed in the first six months of the launch of the original game. Those were completed well after WoW had been established. I seriously wonder what people are thinking.

On Classic launch, there is going to be a rush. There is going to be a lot of whining about having to wait an hour or more just to complete one quest. If someone were able to play at least 12 hours a day, you still have to take into account the rush. And even after the rush, for the first 6 months I suspect the average player will be hamstrung with having to quest with at least 10 others in zone on the same progress.

I predict the only (cough) record that will be set in the first six months will be the record number of players who won’t even leave the starting zone(s) within 10 days. An example of starting zone would be Coldridge and Khranos or everything up to Darnassus in Teldrassil.

But I forget to bow to the guy who thinks they are going to hit level 60 in three days.
aside for a couple bottlenecks like the Refugee's Quandry most quests actually aren't that bad.

One of the advantages of Classic design is that it's a big spread out world with multiple places you can do most quests, unlike Cata design where pretty much every single quest target is squished into a tiny quest hub where having more than 3 people doing the same quest will bottleneck you.
If you get ahead of the pack then you'll have no competition and it'll be easier to stay ahead. Speed leveling doesn't sound fun tho, its much more fun to run dungeons and get into world pvp while leveling than race to 60 and start farming elemental fire or whatever while you wait for people to catch up so you can start reliably getting groups and eventually start raiding.
Both world records, private and Blizzard servers respectively were conducted on fresh servers.
Here's an existing post from December 4, 2004, ten days after launch

"Xenif, the Troll Rogue on Stormreaver server is officially the first level 60, good job even if you dont read these forums :P

It's way easier to level crafting and farm gold at level 60, hence the rush. And ganking in Redridge or STV is far more entertaining than farming fire elementals.
I played on Northdale on launch.... there were significantly more people than there ever would be on a normal blizz server.... and people still made it in 3-4 days.

Yea, it was insane.... You wasted a lot of time waiting in line for quests/competing with 20+ people for a creature spawn... but you eventually got through it...

And if that doesn't satisfy you.... I rolled on a RPPVP server when those servers came out in vanilla.... same thing, people completing it in 3-4 days.

Average will be about a month(Don't underestimate how many hardcore people are out there.... there are a lot... playing 8 hours a day or more..)

I am a terribly slow leveler.... I'll hope for 2-3 months...

One thing you need to know all patches up to 1.12 SIGNIFCANTLY buffed the classes in comparision to earlier patches...
The different in dps between patch 1.1 and 1.12 is literally probably 150%+ more dps.... due to itemization and talent/skill buffs.

And we are starting in patch 1.12... so unfortunately we will never experience vanilla wow when it was difficult again :/
