[SPECULATION] Khadgar

Spoiler: There is a new cinematic that shows Khadgar speaking to Jaina. If you don’t want to know about it, stop reading here

Summary

So apparently Khadgar will be in Oribos after the Sepulcher-Storyline. He talks to Jaina that he will take a look around, he heard of a City of Secrets and the Brokers.

The question now is: Why couldn’t he do it before? It was quite a long time that we discovered the Brokers or Korthia (yes, time flows differently in the Shadowlands), but here’s another theory:

During his research in Karazhan Khadgar actually died and thus he is able to focus on the Shadowlands now. He seeks Jaina to say stuff like ""I suppose I wanted to gaze upon the realmsof death with my own eyes before… ", to which she answers “Is everything alright, Khadgar?”. It seems as if he wanted to slowly introduce to the possibility that he will be passing away soon, not letting her know that he already did. “I feel the weight of the years upon me, Jaina. The burdens carried. The choices made.”

It’s a bit of a long stretch and I’m not too convinced either, just wanted to share it with you guys and maybe get some ideas

He definitely sounded very tired, like : “I’m going to die soon of old age… let me check the realm of the dead so I can be prepared before hand like a good wizard”

And yet…I sensed something really disturbing / diabolical for some reason. I don’t know.

Figures Blizzard would kill off Dadgar. Honestly, out of the five Alliance heroes of the Second War he’s felt the most fleshed out and well characterized. He has a distinct personality. I don’t agree with all of the choices he’s been written to have made, but still. Better than draenei-weaboo Turalyon (who at least is starting to move past that). Alleria would honestly be pretty great if they hadn’t felt the strange need to make her into a budding Void Goddess.

Khadgar is pretty much the only NPC they have handled well since Cataclysm in terms of dominating the ongoing storyline. By that, I mean he does not usurp the role of protagonist. He isn’t the one driving the action. He was a benefactor that supported the main characters (us).

I’d be sad to see him go, but I’m not even convinced this IP has much life left in it at this point.

Yeah. it seems like Khadgar is going to be killed off soon. The question is how said will occur. Will it just be a matter of Khadger spending his last living years exploring the Shadowlands before passing over or will he taken out by some threat? And if the later exactly how will that be handled? Like a shock and awe moment to build up a new face or will a returning character, like say Azshara, make their return by killing Khadgar?

Except when we fought Archimonde in HFC and Gul’dan in Nighthold. Bastard was hogging the time warps to himself.

They better not!

Khadgar is one of the few character’s in this setting I’d personally want to hang out with.

So many mages in dark fantasy are just insufferable.

I have power over time and space but had to fight in a big war wahwah woe is me

Like there weren’t a bunch of people in the same situation who just had to sleep in the mud and hope the blacksmith didn’t cut corners when making their shield. Why don’t you magic yourself cheerful you whiny witch?

So it was so refreshing that Khadgar is this totally cheerful, affable dude who seems like he’d be more suited to saying;

It’s a lovely day. Why don’t I give this art history lecture outside?

I’d be 200% down for an expansion that’s just having afternoon tea and lemon cakes with him as he talks about some obscure arcana.

World of Warcraft: Khadgar is damn tired and a very nice man so we sit down and SHOW HIM SOME RESPECT.

I’d be very sad to lose Khadgar tbh, one of the few men who you could believe might be, as written in-game, gay

Khadgar is literally the only good character left in the entire game. The only one who isn’t just a 2D puppet spouting epic one-liners. If he dies that’s my last straw.
