Speculation; Illidan's afterlife fate

If Illidan didn’t consume fel and get a demon soul, where do you think he’d have ended up after his death? In regards to if he’d died at Arthas’ hand in Northrend or at the Black Temple in Burning Crusade, I think he would’ve gone to Maldraxxus, maybe with a stop at Revendreth first for some penance.

Legion and Shadowlands don’t play in the same universe. You see, Legion is all about Heroism and deciding your own fate, and it ends by defeating the big evil who is behind everything wrong on Azeroth. Shadowlands is about how changing the status quo is actually bad, and the system is only broken because the people who rebelled against it broke it. We defeat them and the robo judges are able to decide our fates again by sorting us into different hell realms. Hooray!

Low chance of Maw, especially circa BT. Otherwise, whether you end up in Mald or Revendreth if you were a terrible person really seems to be about how much the players liked you when you died, so… probably Mald.

No, Twinkle, you have to reject the Shadowlands lore outright. There’s no way Illidan would accept being sent anywhere.

Illidan wouldn’t accept being told you are giving him a ham sandwich

Honestly I probably dislike Illidan more than I dislike the SL lore though it is a … difficult call there.

There are infinite afterlives, so, really Illidan, had he not gained a demon soul, could go anywhere.

Out of the afterlives we know though, I’d say Revendreth would be the most likely option. He’s prideful, he’s arrogant, he’s committed great sins in his life that he needs to atone for.

Let’s be fair here. As Arbiter Pelagos has already made the big change that’s needed. No one gets sent to the Maw… PERIOD. And Sylvannas remains there until every single last soul remaining there is found and redeemed.

Since apparently he shares the Player’s ability of having an “Immortal Soul”, it’s not an option for him anyway.

It’s one of the more amusing bits of lampshading this game does in the Demon Hunter start zone.

Probably the Twisting Nether, like most other demons.

If not though, Revendreth for a bit.

Realistically speaking, outside of people thrown out of Revendreth to begin with after centuries of tried rehabilitation, no one should go to the Maw anyways given the type of people we’ve seen from Azeroth in Maldraxxus/Revendreth… I mean if Frieza level galactic/global conquerors can be redeemed then this presents the question of just who exactly is so irredeemable?

Most likely the guldans and garroshs of the universe

I understood the Maw to be less of a moral distinction and more of a “this soul is too dangerous to try and keep around, get rid of it permanently” deal

Correct but only to a point.

Pelagos believes that ‘every soul is worthy of redemption’ but that does not mean that no souls will go to the Maw, only that he won’t send them there. Instead all the evil souls that would have gone to the Maw by default instead go to Revendreth. The Venthyr can still toss souls that refuse to absolve themselves of their sins into the Maw.

Also, Sylvanas is only there to remove the souls that are unjustly condemned to the Maw by her actions. She’s not actually there to remove all the souls from the Maw. There are people there that are genuinely deserving of their place there, and they’ll be staying there.

Not only that but families would be able to see each other again and other improvements like Kyrian not being mind wiped unless they want to be.

Of course, expecting people addicted to whining to be fair to Shadowlands and actually know the lore and story of the expansion is asking too much. And no, this isn’t me saying Shadowlands is flawless, far from it, but most of you people don’t even bother reading the lore before coming to cry.

Ironically even if she find Nathanos in the Maw, there is a good chance he wont be allowed out considering his actions in the war. He doesn’t have that whole split soul excuse she does and his own actions ended him up there.

On illidan the guy doesn’t ever repent or think he ever made a mistake so I doubt he would have made it through revendreth and been redeemed. Likely they would try to redeem him and he would have told them “I am my choices” and got thrown into the maw.

Are you implying without consuming a demon soul he would not have shown enough devotion for bastion? I think he’d butt heads with mograine in maldraxxus, would be cool to see blind boy vs. crusader joe.

I’d also point out that the moment Devos decided to trample innocent people in her plans for change she lost the high ground.

I don’t know. Maybe they actually won’t be able to do this now? Especially considering the Maw is suppose to be cleared out of ALL souls. Regardless if those souls were deemed irredeemable by the Venthyr. Even if the Venthyr did toss them then Sylvanas would just collected them and chuck them back to Pelagos.

No, the only souls being pulled from the Maw are the ones that Sylvanas condemned there unfairly, which to be fair, is a LOT of souls, there’s still a ton down there that she needs to liberate, but any soul the Venthyr tossed down there before the drought or any souls the Arbiter threw down there before she was shut down the first time wouldn’t be saved.

Nope, it was ALL souls. Regadless if they were justly or unjustly tossed into the Maw.

Tyrande Whisperwind says: until the final soul is free, and you are all that remains.
