I started WoW during Mid BC,. I have a question for anyone who played Vanilla before BC, was the wintersaber mount available, Yes I understand I will need exalted rep with the wintersaber people. But my main question is, was the mount available in Vanilla?
Get ready to repeat the first quest 30 times for roughly 30 minutes each (more probably). Then repeat the second quest which is the fastest 810 times at roughly 15-20 minutes.
Take 10% off from the totals above if Human.
They made this easier later in retail. In Vanilla it’s quite painful. The trade off is you get so much Runecloth, Firewater, and exalted with the Timbermaw (great trinket).
Good luck, and if you’re in Stalagg, see you there too.
As Alliance I am jealous of the Kodo, Id kindly offer the wintersaber for a Kodo, but Id have to be a gnome.
Yes I am debating on going Night elf just to bypass that part and have the training already, Vs going human and having to get exalted with 2 separate Npc’s
Funny, I just posted this within 30 minutes ago in another thread. Here you go:

Watch this video. You run up a mountain West of Ironforge, drop down at a certain point and die. Thankfully that point isn’t too particular. When you release, it will spawn you at the graveyard angel near Menethil (Wetlands)! You will probably die one more time due to a Murlock or a Croc nearby, but after that you’re home free.
My apologies then, i used search did not see anything regarding winterspring saber. But yes I think I will follow your youtube video does seem a bit faster. thanks for the video.
Oh no problem! Sorry I should have clarified. This will signifcantly reduce the time it takes to get the Night Elf starting zone rather than running all the way around through Wetlands.
On a personal note, I’m running straight to the Night Elf area for this specific reason. I wanna play a Human Rogue, however I know I need that reputation. May as well start early.
Yep thats the same Goal I have, Human Rogue with some type of kitty mount, Actually I will be doing a coin flip or rolling dice on Human rogue or NE druid. Still on decided, either way Ill be kitty dps for the stealth or sub as a rogue, I will be leveling very very slow with both specs. but Ill have stealth for open world pvp.
It’s called the Winterspring Frostsaber mount. I did the grind in Vanilla. It’s was considered one of the hardest grinds in Vanilla. Plan on about 2-3 months at 10 hours/day. The requirements were greatly reduced in TBC for the same reason the PVP ranking/title system was eliminated: those grinds were ruining lives. I would assume the original Frostsaber grind will return in Classic as is the PVP ranking/title system. Good luck if you attempt it.
Go read the old comments in Wowhead for “Reins of the Winterspring Frostsaber”
Ok so I plan on playing 1 to 1.5 hour Monday through friday, maybe not at all on some days, but Sat / sun maybe 3 to 4 hours, SO at this rate maybe 6 to 7 months, Im fine with that, I just love the mount, the color and everything, Just has its own uniqueness., I also understand my timer for this probably wont start till I hit 55+
The grind is more like 750 hours (probably 1/2 of that time is travel time back and forth to the quest giver). Your plan of about 14 hours per week will probably take about 1 year to complete. You also want to get mount speed enhancements like carrot-on-a-stick. I think there was one other speed enhancement I used, but can’t remember it.
I am not trying to discourage you as the mount was by far the most beautiful mount in all of Vanilla and anyone that has that mount in Classic will stand out.
Nope no discouragement will be possible, Im not much of a raider, so this is like my top priority at 60, other than just love world pvp, and anyone who is up there should expect a fight, If i get spawn camped then Ill give up and return an hour later or farm another rep until they have left. Yes even if you told me it would take 2 years to farm I would still do it., Thank you everyone for responses. Im just happy it can be obtained in Classic.
It was increased, from 50 to 75 per turn in lvling past 60 also made it easier even at the lower levels, and then they revamped it entirely…around Cata I think.
I helped a fellow healer grind it and then ground it out myself. Ended up getting mine post TBC release, so mix of the 50 and 75 rep per. Still my favorite mount to this day. <3
