Special mob spawn timers

So my only issue with Classic so far has been how much of my time is spent waiting around for a special named mob for a quest to appear, only to have another person tag it instantly. I’ve tried grouping, mashing tab attack, and even macros to target the mobs involved with little success sometimes. A lot of the time multiple groups will be all doing the same thing in the area. Anyone have any tips on dealing with this issue? I’m tired of quests taking forever based on the luck of tagging a mob first.

Have you considered exploiting layering like so many others are doing right now?

It will get you done quickly, at a price. Your soul.

I haven’t really, I try not to use exploits. What would that consist of, getting invited from guild members to change your layering? I would imagine the other layers might be in the same state?

Maybe, but maybe not. It seems like most exploiters are finding success with asking for layering invites.

Invite the people that show up to your party. That’s the classic way dude.

/tar mobname
/cast instantcastspellofchoice

Treat your keyboard like you’re gamecube controller and jam that A/B button in.

Actually do that every single quest, ups the odds a little bit, but when all the other players are doing the same thing it doesn’t help much.

Not much you can do man…I try to invite everyone I can into the party but even then you may have multiple parties all there waiting…just the way things are right now with so many people out in the world…would be even worse without layering atm…so thankfully we got layering even though that has it’s own issues but still…

a hunter friend setting his pet to aggressive in your party and parking that pet is your best friend in that situation.

Horde side had plenty of lines on BB for the early zones where people were packed. But alliance scum can’t see past their own noses!

Try grouping with competition, otherwise skip it if possible if its a long respawn and highly sought after mob. I.e. skipped Gobbler in Wetlands as he took forever to respawn and dozens of peeps there waiting to snipe him AND not wanting to merge groups.

Don’t bother with these quests. Go get 15 mobs worth of kills’ EXP in the time it takes people to have their quest NPC respawn. You’ll already be getting more experience points in most cases than the quest was going to give, plus extra money and possibly items.
