This is the third week in a row in which I complete the requirements for “Special Assignment: Storm’s a Brewin” in Siren’s Isle, and yet the quest never completes so I can’t get the rewards.
I must be wasting a ton of Flame-blessed iron because I never get the reward for this…
Things I tried to force completion, but none worked:
Exit and return to Siren’s Isle
Exit and return to the storm
Logout and back while in Siren’s Isle
Logout and back while in the Storm
Logging out, playing another character, returning to this one
Logging out somewhere else other than the isle or storm, log back on, visit the Isle, visit the storm.
Swim far away within the storm until I reach the Greay Ocean, then swim back to the isle.
When I completed the requirements today, I saw for a brief moment a quest completion window popup suddenly, but I pressed ESC right then to close another window so I couldn’t accept the quest completion. I found no way to make that window popup again.
Same. This is the 2nd week in a row I have been unable to complete the weekly world quest. And now this week’s world quest is tied to the ring upgrade quest. I understand the WoW team deserves a holiday break, but the fact that EVERYONE is on break and they didn’t bother to, I don’t know, stress test these quests before sending the entire building on winter holiday is ridiculous.
At minimum, every player should be rewarded with the last 2-3 weeks worth of weekly quest completions as well as xp, reputation gain, etc. That was missed because they failed to do their due diligence and ensure the quests worked properly across the board before departing for holiday.
Guess we get to sit here for at least another 2-3 days before the WoW team can even look into the problem.
This will likely be fixed next week when the teams get back from the holidays, but it’s very frustrating to lose the rewards for several weeks because of it. I doubt Blizzard would reward the bugged past weeks.
I just made a post as well. 2nd week. Blizz said “check forums we can’t help you”, even though I did 100% on both weeks. Not only that, I also have 6 “Leave the storm” icons stuck in my bag and a check mark next to the quest, yet its still “incomplete”.
still broken. in my chat log, it says I failed the special assignment - but my quest drop-down says it’s 100% complete - no rewards at all. becoming really frustrating… blizz??? where are you???
BTW, I was trying to get the Marmaduke pet, only to find out that the squeeky toy can’t be looted because I need to have done the Special Assignment in the week. So, the pet is off-limits to me as well.
Is there a fix for this yet? When I enter the storm I can’t even get progress for the quest and I was farming the fragments for the Torrential Runekey and I don’t think the game counts me as in the storm at all.
I was able to finally finish it this week, so I assumed it was fixed.
Not completing it shouldn’t affect your chances at Torrential fragments, however, I was able to farm the runekey despite the assignment being uncompletable for many weeks.
I tried every possible thing I could think of or that I saw in forums and etc. Nothing worked. It didn’t happen on main, but once in my pally last week and this week on my warrior.
I’m having the same issue. I have never seen a progress bar come up for the quests. I’ve completed all quests and “important” story lines. I can get into the storm but it will not complete. Shows that I’ve not turned it in yet. I have tried every tip I’ve found from Wowhead and here. I’ve cleared cache, and repaired my game folders, etc. Nothing has fixed the problem.
What I’ve noticed about this issue is that this quest, unlike world quests and other special assignments, is not autocompleted when all requisites are done and doesn’t places rewards in your bags.
Instead, when you finish it, a dialog window appears, like when you are finishing a normal quest in a NPC. If you close this completion window (sometimes without noticing as you are busy in battle) without accepting its completion, the quest stucks and becomes unable to be completed, as there’s no way to make that window appear again. Blizzard needs to change the assignment to autocomplete like world quests do.
