I maybe late to the party here as I generally don’t use wow forums but is there any reason why DKs are weapon limited by spec?
Monks used to be the only other class that was like that but they got rid of it.
So why can’t a B/UDK use 2x 1-handed weapons? Just feels like old hat that doesn’t serve any purpose nowadays
Because there’s no inherent support for the one handed weapons built into the specs like there is for frost. You would be hamstringing yourself by choosing to use one handers making it a trap choice for players that don’t know any better.
But there are no 1-h only abilities in frost anymore, heck you don’t even use 1-h in current frost.
Only class that I’m aware of that has weapon limitations on skills is rogue.
frost strike and obliterate hit with both weapons. blood and unholy weapon strike abilities only hit with main hand. you would lose damage on those abilities by dual wielding
BOS uses 1H which for the most part is the mythic raid spec.
You would be nerfing your strike damage by 25% roughly because the offhand isnt used.
Ret pally (2h needed for divine storm / BoJ)
Arms (2h needed for MS / cleave)
Prot warrior (1h needed for revenge)
Survival (2h needed for raptor strike)
Just to name a few off the top of my head
Fury is the only spec in the game I know of that can use virtually any weapon [only warglaives being unavailable].
