Can someone explain to me or reference an explanation from Blizzard as to why Sub has so many defensive benefits in the spec tree, outlaw has some defensive benefits, yet Assass has none?
In a game where dps is aimed at being equal, just with different profiles, why do some specs have more tankiness than others?
Don’t even get me started on the disparity in defensive value between hero specs
Can’t point to any sources from Blizzard, but I recognize that there is a big temptation for developers to associate “powerful defensives” with the Rogue’s most unique mechanic (Stealth). Tragedy is that they forget that not every spec has access to stealth as often as others.
Personally, I’d rather they dump all of the defensiveness into Feint and all of the recovery into Crimson Vial. Keep it simple. For example:
Evasion - Passive - New version of Evasion
Feint increases your dodge chance by 100% up until Feint wears off or you dodge an attack.
Nimble Fingers - Passive - New version of Nimble Fingers
The Energy cost of Feint and Crimson Vial are reduced by 10, and these abilities are no longer affected by the global cooldown.
Crimson Surge - Passive - Replaces Leeching Poison
Crimson Vial grants you 10% Leech while active, and 50% of any excess healing from Crimson Vial or Crimson Surge that you receive during this time is converted into an absorption shield up to 10% of your maximum health.
Recuperator - Passive - New version of Recuperator
Your auto attacks have a high chance to reduce the cooldown of Crimson Vial by 0.25 seconds.
Soothing Darkness - Passive - New version of Soothing Darkness
Crimson Vial automatically activates whenever you gain Stealth, Vanish, or Shadow Dance, but you can no longer activate it manually.This effect can only occur once every 30 seconds, shortened by effects which reduce the cooldown of Crimson Vial.
Outlaw is balanced around CDR but Sub does have access to shadow dust. I have said as much that Assassination needs to have at least one defensive talent to match up with the rest of the melee specs for the modern retail game.
