Spec tools/design balancing

Been pointing out for quite some time that for pvp, Ret lacking instant mobility, disarm, mortal strike, and healing for a 16th of someones health with WoG or FoL puts us in a really bad spot.
Most noticable Vs specs that disarm us, have mortal strikes, more cc than us, instant mobility, and heal in their damage rotation very effectivly AND do more damage than us. Even worse with bonus damage to us from the pvp Armor nerf on plate, Outlaw, WW Monk, and BM are eating well.

I dont really understand the thought process for Devs leaving the spec imbalance so heavily off. DH, non-assa Rogues, and Monks are out here living their best lives destroying folks because they have every tool for success.

Ret isnt the only spec that needs a design philosophy change. Frost DKs and Feral players also seem to really have gotten the short end of the tuning/design stick for pvp viability.

Several specs are more middle of the road doing some things very well while having a weakness to exploit offering counterplay. Something like MM doing great damage, great CC, has stealth, but suffers if focused. But a DH, Monk, any Priest, or BM hunter seems to actually want you to waste time trying to harm them.

For PVP the Tank and Healer imbalance is equally obvious.

Specifically the lack of MS issue could be a pvp talent. Since Ret has many pvp talents being 80% nerfed versions of their fomer selves, and the least amount of pvp talents in the game. Make it a useful movement/MS combo: PVP talent X, 30 second CD, rush your target, applying 50% MS for 15 seconds, dealing X holy damage. Enemys who recieve cacoon would still stop being the target, folks using their instant mobility to flee to Narnia would still stop being the target if they fled as soon as it was applied.

Just kinda sick of needing to follow a teammate who applys MS so my damage has sticking power, when I should be following my healer so the healer and I dont die.

If every button I press must contiune to be strongly visually telegraphed, and most defensives counterable/stealable and most apply Forbearance, feeling like gaining instant mobility on a similar CD to other melee and a MS effect less spamable with less uptime than other melee wouldnt be the game ending change Ret haters make it out to be.

See, the problem is that you’re greedy want ret to be a purely offensive spec.
Ret is an insanely good support spec with BoP, Sac, LoH and freedom. All while still having higher throughput damage than most melee (as you should to compensate for the lack of an MS).
You also don’t need gap closers because you can maintain a significant amount of your damage at 30 yards. Other melee get rooted and their damage drops to zero even if their target is 10 yards away.
You don’t need a disarm. You have BoP.

Your brain would melt if you had to go back to playing ret without a spell interrupt.

If you want to play a class with all the things you wish ret had, make an alt. The same way I play an alt when I want to have a 40 yard attack range rather than crying for warrior to get increased range. On that note, doesn’t ret also just have an increased melee attack range?

Um. I use my mobility/utility as well as the game is designed for me to do so. I am in combat so Im slowed, cast freedom, catch a stun, trinket, stunned or feared right after. During this if I take damage I can BoP or BoS but they are likely to be removed early and put the other on a 4 min CD, niether BoP or BoS prevent fear or knockback effects. I could retire from my normal job if I got $1 every time I got CCed. Steed is just a “HEY EVERYBODY! CC ME” Button. Without the needed follow-up BoF/trinket/Bubble Steed usually dose not provide the function listed on the tooltip. Thats why specs with invisability and instant mobility or both enjoy better movement than others. Its not new, but Im going to talk about it.

I play ret when I’m tired of healing, but that’s besides the point, don’t you need embellishment on your boots, which are crafted infurious war boots of impurity. And the pvp rings are better than the crafted rings. Do you even have the 4set? Your armory doesn’t show it.

I have but dont use the 4 Set. I have I think 9 pieces of alternitive stat pvp gear in my bag while being in full conquest/or crafted conquest pvp item level gear and have tested many different stat builds.
Using the 4 set and talents that it empowers does less damage in practical use for me than just stacking Vers/Mastery and taking primarily single target/non-dot damage talents. Having Expergation tick for 8k-10k with similar damage amounts from wrathful santion in pvp and having expeg dispelled appears less effective than improving initial hit damage from abilities.

The ret tier set this season is useless for pvp’ers.

This is the right idea.

Class design =/= giving every single class every tool in the game
