The premise behind Mongoose bite is to be a spammable skill. Beautiful, i love it. Thats how a spear suposed to work.
So, about Spearhead effect 35% additional damage over 4 sec on MB and RS, did they stack over each other or the last value replaces previous one like [Pouch of razor fragments] legendary effect?
Because in the current patch if i crit my kill shot for 20,000 [Pouch of razor fragments] will provide 60% of this value, which is 12,000.
If my kill shot procs again, i’ll hit for 10,000 non-crit, then [Pouch of razor fragments] will provide 60% of current value which is 6000 and it will overwrite the previous dot value (12,000)
Spearhead DOT effect CANNOT work this way, i beg you, you already ruined my life removing Precision and also nerfing Keen Eyesight.
We differ on the opinion of thinking “Spam this button as much as possible” is good gameplay or game design.
But with that said, yes. It would be nice to get a clarification on how Spearhead will work. They might not really know for sure themselves though, seeing as it’s not even implemented in the alpha.
is having an entire game that relies on single button spamming any good? no
a game that has enough variety where the player can choose classes and specs where some have different buttons and others less? yes it is healthy for the game
We have classes like monk where it makes sense to use different moves to do more damage and we have specs like Survival where it also makes sense to have a spear repeatedly hitting the same place to do more damage.
And guess what, within the survival spec itself we have an option where we can play by varying more buttons. So I don’t see any problem in this aspect.
Where is this build that “have an option where we can play by varying more buttons”?
Also wait what? You are saying spamming the same keybind and ability over and over again is fun/logical because… spears would hit the same place repeatedly? And I’m sorry but to try and hit the same spot that you’ve already hit with a spear (in real life) would be very stupid. Why injure the place that you literally have just injured? “Oh cool, I punctured his lung… now instead of going for the throat, heart, groin, hamstring or kidney I will just repeatedly keep stabbing his already injured and collapsed lung!”. Yeah I call bull.
And to say that a build revolving around the same 1-2 abilities being spammed is good gameplay and game design “because there is other specs that does other things” is also so weird. How can something boring become fun because something else is fun?
Just say that you personally think it’s fun to sit there and smash your mongoose bite for 2 years, that is fine. But I will still argue that I think it’s a very lazy and mediocre, lacking style of gameplay.
1-Explosive Shot
2- Death Chackram
3- Kill command
4- Wildfire Bomb
5- Kill shot procs
6- Fury of the eagle
7- Raptor Strike
8- Serpent Sting
will you tell me this is not enough? seriously? genuine?
At this point you are kidding right?
Damage on the same spot makes sense ingame or not.
Do you know UFC? you know some fighters won the fight because they legkick same spot? some hooks on torso?
soon the individual who received the damage can’t take it and gives up / dies… being on kicks or through a piercing damage.
DAMN IT, WE JUST POLUTTING OFF-TOPIC
spearhead mechanic is way more important.
HAHAHA thats a good argument, i was literally hiding this info intentionally… but thats the logic behind it lol
The answer for this argument is pure aesthetics.
hunters don’t just hunt with spears, they also use other melee weapons
the animation of identical hits would look clunky and wouldn’t match other weapons
Not even gonna lie, after Legion i have hated that ability. Nothing will ever feel as satisfying as the Legion mb rotation with the og aspect of the eagle, og flanking, and even og fury.
They all worked so well together and sv hunter burst has not hit the same since.
I mean everything in the game will reward you for playing it/playing it right. But I personally disagree about the MB/MF playstyle because it literally boils down to how many of this one ability can I spam in the window of 14 seconds? And it’s very easy to reach the “top play” with it, and really easy to avoid screwing it up. There is no big brain moves or skill involved. You set up for a damage window as any, you then pool your energy and make sure to FS and KC on CD I guess and just spam away until you are out of energy, then press FS and KC and then spam away until the 14 seconds is over. You will probably always get 6 or so MB in the window and not much you can do will make it higher, if anything. And it’s really easy to avoid getting fewer. It’s like “Have full focus and make sure my focus regen ability is on CD” and GO!
For sure, if you play SV ST build in DF, make sure you rotate the keybind for MB/RS because your key will wear down real fast.
Seriously we have one actual focus spender for the Survival Hunter Specialization now that Serpent Sting has been moved to the general tree. Oh yeah we can spend a talent point to get the red version of it making it so that we really only have 29 talent points because we have to spend our first talent on Raptor Strike. The other specs get 2. We are regulated to one with a color variant…at the very least Lacerate needs to make a come back…
The idea of a spell that your supposed to set up to spam yet still requires to build up stacks AND doesnt increase duration has never been a favorite of mine. In fact, the whole playstyle around it feels disappointing at best. I mean, by the time you get to full stacks you might get like 2-3 fully buffed hits.
Plus, its basically the only focus spender on the ST side of things, so too much focus you’ll end up dumping when you dont want to or wasting focus. Its always the case. Its a similar playstyle to feral and another reason why that spec is so bad as well. They have this mini-build up with energy and combo points to push mini-burst rotations. However, you mess up ONCE your dps is unrecoverable. Surv’s MB build is the same thing, in fact if i remember correctly, they were released about the same time as well. The playstyle never amounted to much of anything and all the other specs that had it eventually were able to purge themselves of it. Well, except for the two bottom dwellers.
it’s pretty satisfying when you know what you’re doing, when you know the coefficient skills of other melee classes and really understand the weight of stacked MB.
Same sentiment from me, I really don’t like that we are literally animation locked (I mean we can cancel it but… what’s the point then?) and its animation is extremely lackluster. At least monks get complete frontal parry with Fist of fury, making it a lot safer to use.
Just a bad copy of another specs signature ability, lazy and bad development. Just as with Kill command. We steal Beast masters signature ability and dumb it down to a weak hitting focus builder. And on top of it they lock almost all SV synergy and rotation around resetting the damn thing, so awful.
** invent some new fooking stuff that is actually just survivals thing! Remove these damn copies already. The spec was remade because it was too similar to other specs and the reinvention is to copy other specs for the majority of the specs tools?..
Yea, but blizz is KNOWN for copy/pasting things. It LITERALLY their trademark move.
Its always the same. Take a spell that might work, place it in new context, nerf the hell out of it, and have it maybe give 5 extra focus. Thats it.
Surv should never use BM talents like KC, and it also shouldnt use MM stuff either, but thats the whole issue with surv. Surv does NOT have an identity. Not spec wide. Yea you have your ReXxAr wannabes, or your MB spammers, or your bombadiers, but nothing connects them together. Absolutely NOTHING. Its a hodgepodge of crap blizz copy/pasted and threw together. Thats another reason why surv has taken 5x the time and effort to basically get back to the start where it should have been getting close to before being released. Thats why its the smallest tree, because blizz doesnt authentically create stuff, they copy and paste, and therefore to expand the tree they would have to come up with something new OUTSIDE of KC modifications, KS procs, and “pet g increased by x.” I think rivals BM for pet oriented talents and it should NVR be that way.
