Spear Vs Condemn (Open Discussion)

So I hit level 60 today on my fresh new warrior (I play arms for reference) and I decided to go with the Condemn covenant due to the amount of sheer damage it can pump out, from what I’ve read on icy veins, wow head and other various guides plus fellow warrior players it seems like Condemn is best for single target raid encounters.

Honestly that kind of turns me off a bit, spear seems to allow more flexibility as well due to it kind of being in the middle (and sometimes low) ground for M+ Raids and PvP (Also good for Prot Warrior) I’m pretty much trapped between deciding to stick with the condemn for the raw damage out put or switching over to Spear for the utility and flexibility it offers.

What covenant did all of you guys pick for the warrior spec you tend to play I’d love to hear about everyone’s input and I look forward to talking with all of you.

I went night fae on my warrior because I felt it met a solid middle ground for all 3 specs. It’s like having access to shockwave again outside of prot. Also on the upside it does a lot of damage in cleave situations. One of the soulbinds also give you a huge haste buff if you stand inside the aoe and another soulbind gives you a good mastery buff when aftershock is used. The blink is nifty too especially if you use the soulbind that makes it a 20% heal as well. Big ghost wolf vibes.

I chose Arms Necrolords because I like the thought of providing group buffs and being a psuedo off tank when the situation arises to it.

According to wowhead, Necrolords is the worst for warriors, and I won’t shy away that it’s situational. From a positive light, Blizzard just might adjust the convenant to be more competitive in the near future.

Condemn is almost 50% of my damage. I am pulling aggro off the tank from the initial cs condemn spam at start of fight pumping up 8k+ dps burst. Then ending at 3k dps on bosses. Condemn is insane.

Condemn does stupid high damage on arm like Vigilantscar said, fury i cant say, didnt have the chance to pratice it enough. After doing world tour mythic dungeon as prot, i would say condemn only have a purpose to get high threat on bosses at the beginning to keep aggro, since they dont do that high damage. But as we get more gear and more rage regen, we would be able to use it a lot more often and pump big damage on single target.

Spear is great in every content and good on all 3 specs tho

I actually really like the Necro banner and aesthetic. Group utility has to count for something, right?

Condemn with deadly calm is winning for me. Open with deadly calm and sweeping strikes is pretty legit. On boss fights I can get another deadly calm in at the end execute phase.

I am looking at the leap legendary paired with this combo and double time. Lots of rage generation and maybe I wont need onslaught as a talent (besides the aoe it provides)

I am a casual player but I am out dpsing my guildies with this setup. Prob will be nerfed. I cant wait to try it in pvp.

The problem with Venthyr I am seeing is the lack of survivability it offers compared to other covenants.

But opening on a boss, mob or player with condemn x2 usually before I need to switch to MS is pretty insane dps right now.

Like you Oths I wasnt sure at first but after playing it in open world I figured this.

Condemn for warriors is available every mob, every pull all the time. The other abilities are on a cooldown and have to be selected. Here we have to decided do we open with condemn big dps or MS to add deepwounds and lose out on a possible big crit.

Having condemn for every pull seemed like the winning choice.

Hope this helps. I am a casual player. Cheers.

I am lvl 60 and finishing up the venthyr zones questing and I have to say I really love Condemn. Part of what I love with the warrior is the big meaty executes and this lets me use them more so yeah… haha Bastian is also really close in my book though due to the utility of the spear. I used it alot in wpvp as I was leveling keeping those pesky high mobility classes rooted down was so nice. I’ll have to make the choice soon myself so I’m with ya op very hard choice! Also for what its worth I also love ancient aftershock as well. If its full damage wasnt over the course of like what 12 secs? I would prob pick it over Spear.

I went Night fae. I love the look, the convenience of the soul shape. But that Space Jam Slam Venthyr ability has me second guessing pretty hard. Such a cool ability.

I’m spear mainly for pvp but it’s great for aoe packs and burst with bladestorm and warbreaker

Very interesting, I second guessed my self, I was thinking when I was questing thigh the nightfae area “Man this ability would be broken on warrior” but I didn’t end up doing it cause everyone was screaming about how the condemn play style is better on every single guide I read. Might try looking into Night Fae instead of Kyrian as my replacement covenant.

Night fae is getting a lot of attention for arms, partially due to the mobility buff it provides, it also has a healing factor within that little bit of mobility, but then also the mastery buff that one of the conduits grants.

The AoE can hit pretty hard and seems to not DR with storm bolt, so you can open with a Ancient Aftershock, then storm bolt for just a lot of damage.

I myself just love the way condemn works and enjoy the door of shadows teleport. I like the door of shadows disorient option which seems like would be fun to do around a flag in a BG as you assault it.

FYI, AA is a Knockdown instead of a Stun precisely so it doesn’t DR with Storm Bolt or Shockwave or other stuns.

Night Fae. The ability does decent damage, and the shapeshift blink thing is nice. I didn’t even know about the 20% heal until someone mentioned it earlier.

I primarily PvP so the damage and knockdown is nice, Venthyr seems to suck because of rage starvation, Necrolord sucks because you can’t move the banner, and everyone seems to be riding the Kyrian bandwagon and it’s already been nerfed like 5 times.

Kyrian is still the best imo, nightfae isn’t bad by any means but having a way to keep targets stationary for you to just tee off on outside of stormbolt is really good

Right. I went with Night Fae with the knockdown as an extra interrupt in mind.

Guess it somewhat depends on your comp too how valuable each one can be.

The spear is also sick to peel melee off of your healer/partner as well. Aftershock is good too but I think spear just does more things for you

20% heal for Night Fae? Where?

both of these abilities are extremely strong but for me personally i chose spear since all i do is world pvp and bgs. spear is just so good, throw it into a pack of players, warbreaker into bladestorm while my ret paladin friend does all the real dps and it’s not hard to see why.
it’s also very satisfying to see coward classes like druid and mage try and blink/shapeshift/run out of the spear and just get sucked back in

It’s a soul bind trait. I went venthyr on my warrior but it was definitely like the hardest choice I’ve made on this game I think lol. I plan to do a little of all the content, but what made me not pick night fae ultimately was that people would walk out of my stuff on the ground be it in pvp or in dungeons tanks pulling it out etc. Plus condemn has a sick animation and let’s me execute more.
