love the look of spears in this game but using them just looks weird. instead of fighting like a normal spear and using poke/jab animations the character swings the spear like a golf club or hockey stick. just looks silly
It’s because they made spears and staves share animations for some reason. They should really fix that.
it’s because most polearms are halberds and spears just got caught up in the crossfire…
December 2023. I think the animation for spears is due to be looked at. Of course, thats just my opinion.
With legion, they replaced most combat animations with “class specific” ones that relied on classes artifact weapons.
Hence why an enhancement shaman with fists will flail them to the side like wearing a hammer/axe.
That is ok, you can definitely stab with a staff as well. It is the actual stab animations that are lacking.
I agree. Honestly i wish there was a master list of animations available and we could pick and choose what animations we used (reasonably ) for the weapons we use, especially since they have removed the emphasis on racial animations for the most part. For instance i would like to use a human animation for my Night Elf or Void Elf (hate some of the 2h animations for Void Elves/Blood Elves).
i dont know about all that. but a spear should fight like a spear, not a hockey stick or golf club, shaman animations i noted were off aswell. the flail animation looks funky af.
Human male spear/polearm animation is especially egregious. They swing it like the concept of a spear is completely alien to them.
Regular Trolls have proper spear animations though.
Polearms and Spears are two different devices. One requires swinging, the other stabbing/poking. So they’d either need to make a hidden attribute to mark which is which for animations, or add another weaponclass.
Now if they add a class/spec that uses a shield and spear, I dont see them making spear poking animations.
try being a female blood elf.
like who’s idea was it to have us arch backward when holding a spear/staff or to twirl it behind our backs?
The polearm attack animation is more of a womp than a thrust. I’d still like mages to be able to use then though. For what is a spear, if not a pointy staff.
It gets funny when a Fury Warrior uses two fragile looking crystal staves to whack the fudge out of their enemies.
