Speak up, fellow Worgen players who are not furries!

I’d like to hear from non-furry-identifying players who happen to enjoy playing the Worgen class. What is it about this race that you enjoy?

I often see a reference to furries when the Worgen race is mentioned; I feel as if two groups are being maligned: 1) those who are furries and 2) those who are not, but who get lost in the crowd by being mislabeled.

Well, I am no furry and still really enjoy playing as a Worgen. In fact, I still had my lvl 100 boost until a few weeks ago, when I finally decided to use it on my female Worgen druid. She felt worthy of it.

I find it fun to play a character that can transform into a human, if I so choose. (I’ve never played her in human form, though.) I also look forward to the upcoming Worgen revamp. (If I dislike the look of the female, I’ll make my toon a male. So be it!)

This might be weird, but I fell in love with their awkward animations. They look so ridiculously goofy or exaggerated and I don’t know why but it seemed to fit.

Not to confuse, but this is my Worgen, with whom I should’ve written my OP.

I like their awkward animations, as well.

In general I mildly enjoy the backstory of the player Worgen, A.K.A Gilnean Worgen. I feel that, at least on paper, they are a rather nice take on the Werewolf concept. While I don’t care for all of the lore for them I generally enjoy the core themes and ideas.

I must say I kind of wish the game focused more on their bestial aspects in Cata. In some of their later depictions I feel things improved there but it comes off as too little too late to me. It doesn’t help that the only Worgen character that seems to matter at all these days is Genn; but I digress.

Tauren and worgen are based off of actual mythological beasts, so I always thought labeling them as furries was odd

This right here, Minotaur and Werewolves are awesome. Not everyone is a flipping furry, and if they are, WHO CARES.

Werewolves are awesome. Killing machines.
If they are undead werewolves, that is double awesome for me. If I get to be on the ally side, triple awesome.

I honestly regret even rolling a Worgen, Humans Racials are better.

all worgens are furries

… wait

A very good and valid point.

Yes and yes! The idea of them being killing machines is just really cool.

LOL But, truly, not all of us are furries, hence my desire to find others like myself. I figure that I couldn’t be the only one. (Yes, I have several Pandarens, too.)

I’m no furry. I just think werewolves are neat.

Straight and to the point. I like your style–and your character’s name, for which you’ve earned bonus points.

My love for the furry races in WoW does not extend in any way beyond the parameters of the game.

So I guess I’m with you, OP.

Not a furry, more like a classic movie monster fan.

If there was a walking mummy race I’d probably play that too.

Well, guess I can’t talk :joy:

Though I will say my love for werewolves long preceded me joining the fandom. I loved seeing werewolves in movies. Especially the “Van Helsing” werewolf (best movie werewolf imo, fite me). Getting the opportunity to play as one in WoW is amazing! I guess, just call me a werewolf fan

Well, people often say I am a furry because I play druid, I guess I kinda belong in this thread somehow?

Worgen are the second best race in the game. English Werewolves are just under Russian Space Goats on the cool but random scale

I really don’t understand the whole “furry” thing in the first place. No, please. Don’t try to explain it to me. I truly don’t want to know.

I tend to pick the weirder races in general. I’m not going to roll something in a fantasy game that’s basically just me. I have my whole life to be my boring self. I’d already decided to be Alliance this time around, and my other options were human, short human, shorter human, purple human, and space goat with a vampire accent (which I’d already done before), so…

This is also why I want to see more of the established races end up as allied. Jinyu, sethrak, etc. Horde gets some good diversity in their visual appearance, but Alliance is mostly just Star Trek costumes.

I liked the werewolf concept, and the roots in Azerothian druidism (though I tend to stay away from stuff like werewolves and vampires in most media because so few execute them in a way I like). The worgen starting zone where you start out as a normal Gilnean as the city slowly folds under the curse is really cool, too (especially the progressive debuff after you get your bite).

I really like the worgen lore in other areas of the game (Shadowfang Keep, Pyrewood, Grizzly Hills, etc). Silverpine questing where you see surviving, uncursed Gilneans embracing the curse to eschew a cursed existence as undead is one of my favorite pieces of questing in Cataclysm.
