Spatial Rift

Anyone else think that this is the stupidest racial we could have been given?

It’s like a crappier version of Blink.
If we were going to be given a rehashed mage spell, it should have been more like Invisibly but instead of just turning you invisible, it phases you into a void version of the map you’re on.

You think that’s the dumbest racial that you could have gotten? Lol

Your racial got nerfed multiple times to be bad, Spacial Rift just started bad.

What’s wrong with it? I have actually found it useful for pvp and wpvp.

It’s sort of niche and is useful to bait people off of cliffs or to get out of range, but isn’t as general as say the Troll one that increases haste temporarily.

To be fair, trolls don’t have a chance on hit to increase damage by 5%.

If they remove spacial rift off the GCD it would be good at that point, but right now it costs a GCD to send it out and you can walk faster. It was good on the bridge boss in antorus, but very sporadically is it decent.

Entropic Embrace isn’t bad but it’s not all that great, either. I think during a boss fight it’s up about a quarter of the time. It’s also next to impossible to time it. The Troll haste racial, by comparison, can easily be planned for to increase DPS at the best time. So a Void Elf will frequently find themselves in a position where their passive DPS buff was wasted. A Troll won’t have that issue nearly as often.

As far as Spatial Rift goes, I’m not really opposed to it being on the GCD. I just think its cooldown is too long for what it is. I was able to use it to solo orb running on G’huun as a warlock using a gateway, Burning Rush, and a pre-planned teleport. I would also use it to squeeze out a little more damage before I had to move on some fights. All well and good. But the fact that it’s something you have to plan for and is on a 3-minute cooldown means I’m lucky if I use it twice on raid fights. That’s assuming those fights even have a reason for me to use it.

I’d be happy if they shaved 30 seconds off the cooldown. A whole minute and I’d be thrilled with it. Then again, I’m someone who thinks racial abilities should be more impactful than they currently are.

For me is being able to place it somewhere within 20 yards like a launched trap that persists for a minute, if you don’t use it and the location expires after 1 minute then the cooldown is cut down to 2 minutes. Hitting the button a second time teleports you to that spot which then incurs the 3 minute cooldown.

Blizzard - “Challenge Accepted”

and yes I think it is a pitiful racial.

Ikr. Much worse than wisp form.

Its a very good talent for PvP. Not every racial has to be useful in every aspect of the game.

Regrettably, even though I’ve been doing some battlegrounds, I don’t plan on Pvping enough to make much use out of it.

Have yet to utilize this. Should be insta cast.

If the missile speed were faster than running, it would be much better. It does have some niches though. Like Ghuun.

I miss when Racials were intended to be fun and useful and had cooldowns based on what they did just like any other skill. It gave picking your race more flavor and meaning… granted they really do need to look into the fact that Alliance races have almost nothing but defensive CDs while Horde have an overwhelming majority of Offensive CDs… and all the cool small ability racials that used to have short CDs are Horde…

Light forbid that we get racials that are primarily “fun” itstead of competitive.

At the very least, racials should have no CD out of combat.

Three things would make Spatial Rift more useful as far as I am concerned:

  1. Make the little “void puddle” thing get to its end point MUCH MUCH faster. Right now you can outrun it.

  2. Increase the time you have to use the second click by at least 10 seconds.

  3. Make the “void puddle” visible only to the caster.

Or Blizzard could just make it a Blink clone (sans the root/stun break), which would make it far more useful outside of PvP and still useful in PvP.

You don’t know how to use it. Sorry not sorry, you don’t know what you have.

Or make it stationary and clickable that’ll leap you forward in which ever direction you’re facing

I dunno that sounds clunky. But perhaps if it worked like the Void Dash ability you get when Umbric disguises you as a Blood Troll during the War Campaign. Granted it couldn’t have multiple charges and a short cooldown like that ability but just the functionality would be far more useful IMO.
