Spanish to English addon?

I play on a mixed server, half the time I don’t understand what other players are saying unless I alt tab and use google translate. Is there an addon that will do that for me?

I wish they would add that as a chat feature.

Doesn’t exists as far as i know. Literally rebuilding Google Translate sounds like a tall order for an addon.

But with machine learning, who knows, might become a gamme feature in the near-future.

Aren’t phones getting to a point where they can just look at text and translate it?

I’m not saying that in a “Pfft you plebs didn’t know about this?” I’m just bringing it up as an alternative

The addon is called “learn the other language” :upside_down_face:

or hear me out they add a translate feature to the game and give a rough translation

It’s one of the few features I really liked during my days playing FF.

It wasn’t the best translation option but it helped in dungeons and other group activities.

I’m Texan, so I have a smattering of Tarzan Spanish that I’ve picked up by osmosis.

Serious response:

  • Get an addon that lets you copy/paste from the chat window.
  • Post the sentence into Google Translate.

Won’t work in combat, ofc, but let’s be real… you don’t need it 99% of the time in combat.

This is what I’ve been doing so far.

It only works to a degree. I speak Spanish fluently, however Warcraft has a distinct gamer speak that requires understanding short text, slang, acronyms, and just poor spelling overall.

It took me weeks to figure that out during Classic on a mostly Latin American server.

I never took Spanish

I’ve had full-on conversations with people through Google translate Portuguese and Spanish. I could tell that it was not so elegant and they’d often be pretty amused, but hey, we got the point across. I usually just screenshot and drop it in, or type if it’s short enough. Try to clarify things before the key goes in so it’s less of a distraction.

It would be nice to have an addon or in-game feature of sorts, but Google Translate is one of the more robust automatic translators and it’s had years of development, and still produces translations of often questionable quality. It’d be difficult to get one up and running that’s any sort of accurate, especially considering that few people speak “properly” in game.

hahahahahahaha

No. (Unless by robust you mean “number of languages in one place”, I suppose.)

It is functional, as you say, though.

Lol, yeah didn’t mean robust as in “good,” just robust as in there’s a lot there and it’s been around for a while. I guess robust wasn’t the right word? :joy:

If you have a smart phone google translate. Can translate text to your language pretty quickly via camera.

Translating back you can look up a english to spanish translator although it won’t fully translate fluently or accurately.

You may be out of luck with gamer abbreviations and shortened words though as texting usually has.

From my experience they probably are talking about ninjaing loot
