Sources of 70-80 gear for "gearless" leveling paths?

We probably won’t see an heirloom update until march. Jesus. Anyway, I have 50ish alts at 70 and I’d like to liberally utilize delves to level them, but I will outpace my gear as many of them are still in heirlooms from my Dragonflight leveling blitz.

Yes, I could wait for heirlooms. Yes, I could use dungeons or the campaign to level.

But let’s say I don’t want to do those (I don’t), how would you gear alts that barely cross the finish line of “ready for 70” on the way to 80?

Since you just dismissed the two gearing paths we have while leveling… it seems that you pretty much just left yourself with no choices except the AH.

You get gear from delves. You can also craft a few items at level 71. Then there’s boe’s on the AH.

Sounds like you’ve specifically limited yourself to having only battlegrounds as an option.

So I guess the answer you’re looking for is battlegrounds?

you can level by doing WQs, and some of them reward gear.

With 50ish alts, all of the paths are terrible. No matter what you do, you’ll be sick of it. So, any of the above will work.

Don’t WQs open early in WW? I’d almost consider Dreamsurge gearing the 70s, then just doing WQs. But, yes, you’ll be sick of even that after awhile.

Best to wait for an XP event and mainline whatever they’re offering (isn’t that happening now?).

I’ve got alts strictly for professions, and all of them are at least 74 by now just from doing profession-related stuff, the occasional weekly, and WQs. Not much combat involved, but if I was looking to gear them I’d probably use WQ gear and limp along until 80 where they’d start pulling out all the warbound stuff this character’s found.

Pretty much. I’m capable of making myself sick of things just across the 6-8 I normally play in a given expansion. There is no right answer to this question.

The idea is I want to use delves haha. So no, no battlegrounds. I guess I’m indirectly whining that undercoin should buy leveling gear!

I guess this is as good a spot as any to ask this:

How involved is the “I just want current expansion leveling gear” commitment to the honestly-too-complex-at-endgame crafting system? I ask because I’ve considered crafting, I used to have a crafting empire among my alts, but the new system feels like a gold and effort sink purely to justify its relevance at endgame, which is fair, but how does it feel on the way up? How low hanging is the leveling gear, which SHOULD just rain from the sky IMO?

WQ, BG/Arena boxes, 554 crafted ring, cloak, bracers and a handful of other slots at 71, fill in the others at 80

Can always toss them some undercoins if you don’t need the coffer keys on your main and have maxed the delver’s journey.

I don’t consider crafting viable for leveling.

You need gear for leveling, but not that bad. WQs will give gear. Quests will give gear. The weekly events give gear.

I mean, I’ve been playing, and I have not really “done” dungeons or anything. I did the 4 Heroic weekly we had this week. I did the TW weekly.

I do my two delves per week (for the vault, I do not care for delves)). I ran all 3 LFR wings (once), and actually got into a pug raid. And I Follower Dungeon the weekly dungeon for rep.

But the bulk of my time is WQs and the 4 weekly events world events, granting 2 chests, and whatever. I’ve had no problem upgrading my gear. After the vault and stuff, I’m almost maxed out of Champion gear (That is, Champion +4 gear), and some Hero gear from the vault.

And I’m, what, 608? 609? more than good enough for world stuff and fishing.

And its much more “fun” for me, not hunting M+ groups, no drama, none of it. I have the whole world to play in, not just the same dark dungeons over and over and over again for a zergfest.

Crafting is too expensive, when everything else is just dropping gear on the ground.
