This has been happening ever since the pre patch on Tuesday and it’s never happened to me before. Can anyone else confirm if this is happening for them or if there’s a command to fix this because it’s annoying when the in-game sounds restart every time I alt-tab to look something up.

Same thing is happening to me. I was kinda wondering if it was an addon or -only- happening to me. Seems like that is not the case. I haven’t found a real fix, granted I know it’s not -that- big of a problem. The only ‘work around’ I’ve found is clicking the option ‘sound in background’. However I’m not too much for that fix as when I alt tab I often wanna hear something else. Like a video or something. I’ll reply if I find any kind of actual fix.

I’ve also been having this problem as of the pre-patch. No solutions that I’ve found other than enabling sound in background, which isn’t always something I want. Hopefully it’s addressed soon.

Reporting the same bug here. Very frustrating. I like to tab to quickly click something or check discord or something and tab back in very quickly, and it’s seriously grating when dialogue, background music, everything has to restart or is muted forever (in the case of dialogue)
April 28th 2021 and this bug still exist. When I tab out, I completely lose audio and have to reset WoW to get sound back.

yea I’m still having this issue, I would also like to know how to stop this from occurring. I know that its just world of warcraft too because any other game doesn’t have the sudden spike in sound when I tab out of it.
This isn’t a bug - go into Options> Audio> Sound in background (Enable to allow sounds to play even when World of Warcraft is in the background)
This is a bug though.
I have even unchecked, reloaded, and re-checked it, reloaded again, both times without it being alt-tabbed out.
This bug occurs if I alt-tab out on loading screens. I have not tried fully exiting after returning the sliders to where I want them to see if it’s still replicating on the same day, yet. I’ll try that next if it happens again today.
Not every time, but often enough and regularly enough, that it is frustrating. I’ll go months without it happening, though I do not play daily or sometimes even weekly, but then it’ll start happening again.
This bug (for me anyway, someone else’s volume stuff might be modified differently) does not un-check the sound in background box, it fully turns master, music, and ambiance down to 0. I always have dialogue turned all the way down because of one specific voice actor who appears across expansions, so I don’t know if it is also affecting that. Everything else, it leaves as I have it, for instance music loop and no pet battle music.
Still hoping I find the correct answer to fix the bug somewhere.
