I mean it’s cute and all. But seriously. I have, what, 3 characters that are Night Fae. I haven’t played them extensively, but I have to say I’m vaguely disappointed with Soulshape so far.
Dude where’s my forms? I am just this damn fox. Everyone else is a fox. I know there’s supposedly over a dozen cool Soulshape forms, but the only one I obtained was through PvP. I even looked at a guide and tried to get one that way, and the dude I was supposed to kill for it was on some huge respawn timer. At least give us one or two of these organically, without having to actively seek them out.
The ‘teleport’ on this thing is so short, it might as well not exist.
Why does it have to have such a long cooldown? Half the time I try to use it, it’s on cooldown. So I stopped bothering to use it, mostly. I’d rather use Ghost Wolf, Druid Travel form, or hell, even Burning Rush, because it works when I press the button!
Alright, I have to admit, having it forever in rested zones is really great. But I still forget, and switch out of it. And then get annoyed when I can’t go back into it for 1.5 minutes! Is it unlimited in rested zones or not!? Make up your mind, game!
It’s ok i guess but ive just never been one of those people that changes talents and gear around depending on what content i’m doing, i just stick with my choices because i never cared too much for max possible performance lol
None of the covenant signature abilities are anything more than fun small utility spells. You can use the blink a few times before the buff expires, assuming you don’t cast anything else to break it early. But having even a short blink like that can mean the difference between dying to or surviving some mechanic.
They’re all over the place. My hunter that I only really play to see the NF campaign has a half-dozen.
Have you played the other covenants. It is significantly overtuned and i would b shockd if in 9.1 it doesn’t get nerfed.
Kyrian - Free healthstone, currently only really decent on tanks for the raid and necrotic stacks, if you are heals or DPS… pretty meh.
Necrolord - A 2 minute CD channeled shield that will abosrb like 25 damage before breaking… You hae to channel it
Venthyr - A channeled teleport that is barely even more efficient than just walking somewhere. THe only plus is you can go over gaps, but in actual use in combat you are ccing yourself which is rarely an option.
Then look at soulshape… more mobility then all of those, an instant blink as well on a similar or shorter cooldown then the rest of the hot garbage i just laid out in front of you. I would argue unless you are a tank, Nightfae has the only Covenant utility ability that is even usable outside of niche world content / flavour. For alot of classes like warlock and DK it means SOME form of mobility, you can’t say that for the rest.
Then everything else you just listd is you complaining that perks that no one else got are limited.
There are no cosmetic changes to even try to unlock for the rest. The CD is the same or longer for the other coveneants. So in what world is it overrated when the rest are basically no impact flavour abilities and nightfae is very functional.
I don’t get this bit, how on earth is Door of Shadows a long cast time when Soulshape does… not just the same but gives you a free Ghost Wolf on top of it.
Yeah, I’ve played them all a bit. Mostly Venthyr, so far.
But the owls are so cute! How do you do-hoo??
OK that is bollocks… 100% agree LOL
I’ve found it useful for some of the puzzles to get the world caches… and it’s fun with the good abilities in Torghast. But yeah, in general play, not so useful.
Well, you make a very compelling argument. I definitely see that it’s the most useful out of all the secondary abilities. I just wasn’t on the hype train, you know?
Its really not… there is almost no point of having the necrolord or venthyr abilities on your bar outide of teleporting vertically for a chest in the open world.
The Necrolord shield is beyond bad and aside from plaguefall channeling for a buff, you would literally completely remove it off your bar. If you don’t beleive me try it. Even if it had no channel time, the shield it give you for a “powerful enemy” is like 1000 damage that will dissapear if something even looks at you… EXCEPT YOU DO HAVE TO STAND STILL AND CHANNEL IT!
I know, I feel like a total buffoon every time I use the Necrolord shield thing. Fortunately, the character that is in that convenant is a total buffoon. That’s kind of his schtick, lol. It works out!
