Soulbound gear not added to appearance collection

I just picked up a leather chest piece with my lvl118 retribution paladin in Zandalar (it won’t let me post as her). I liked the way it looked, so I equipped it, and it was bound to me. But now I don’t see it in my appearances collection. What gives?

It’s leather and you’re a paladin. You can only learn appearances that match your class’s main armor type.

my spec info says i can wear leather.

also i… equipped it… that’s how it became soulbound, it was BoE.

from wowpedia: “Paladins can wear cloth, leather, mail, or plate armor and may use a shield.”

Yeah it’s about time they fixed this. My hunter is in the same boat and I remeber when I started out being able and encouraged to use any kind of armor, barring plate I think. But you got a bonus if you used mail. Why in ther hell can we not TMog these other types of armor yet ? We can use them and play in them already and frankly, you have given mail wearers a really short stick by having the worst tmog/artmor available. Time to rally and petition for these changes !

Yes, but it’s not your primary armor type. You can only learn appearances from your primary armor type, which for your paladin would be plate.

Yes, I am aware of the current situation. I am asking for a change to that. I hope I made that clear by saying it’s time for a change. It’s only TMOG it’s not like it is gonna hurt anyone other than the poor people with such bad taste at creating all that great mail armor.

Edit: I actually think the current designerrs are doing a great job in that mail department. It’s all of the terrible transmog old stuff that is clearly not ever anything I would go out of my way to appear in public wearing.

It’s probably like this for a sense of fairness. Otherwise plate-wearers would be able to use everything outside of class-restricted gear while clothies could wear… cloth. Leather and Mail classes would fall somewhere in between.

The only way to make it fair would be to open up restrictions both ways across the board, but I’m sure Blizzard would want to stick at least somewhat to class fantasy and identity.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I just have one more question if I may. Why is it thayt I can get transmog from islands and then obviously not paying the best attention towards them we decide that it looks good for a hunter or whatever TMog we have, and try it on only to find out that even though the game let us put it on making it bound, it is leather or else and we actually can’t use it or even TMOG it. SO WHY let us equip it at all ??? You arehelping nobody by doing this and actually making happy people very very sad.
Thanks for your time, check back later )

  • It’s BoE so you can mail it or sell it to someone who can use it.

  • You’re allowed to equip it because it’s a holdover from the older versions of the game where you had to work your way up to your preferred armor class. Paladins and Warriors for example used to start in mail and wouldn’t “learn” how to equip plate armor until reaching lvl40 and speaking to their class trainer. That and back in the day it wasn’t unusual for you to wear a piece of gear outside of your main armor type if the itemization was good (you weren’t even restricted by primary stats). It wasn’t until MoP that they started to steer you towards using your “proper” armor by adding the specialization bonus.

These are all good observations, but QA will not regard intended behaviors as a bug, no matter how eloquently objections to them are phrased. What you’re looking for is a feature suggestion, which belongs on General Discussion forum or the in-game suggestion menu.
