I know I’m not the one you asked but I found the latency in FF14 nearby unbearable at times as an Oceanic player. Combine that with a GCD longer than WoW’s is now and it felt clunky and awful.
Which is a shame, coz I liked my cute lizard girl and little apartment. They might’ve changed things now tho, I only played til the endgame of the first xpac.
Professionally, my crew primarily streams horror games. But FF14 is giving out a full month free, so we’re looking to include that into our stream schedule. It’d give us a chance to all play something together, as well as with our fans.
Personally, I’ve been playing more single player RPG’s. Dragon Quest, Neptunia, etc. If our group test run of FF14 proves worthwhile, I’ll probably be playing that.
thanks for the input. I might stick with ESO as my go-to game when WoW annoys me too much. I know it gives me no issues other than the sort of ms I get when playing on US servers.
Still debating whether to cancel my sub or not, I have until some time in June.
Right now, and for the last 2 weeks, the launcher isn’t working and I haven’t really had much time or the inclination to uninstall it and install it. Such a hassle. So at this time I can’t even log on. It freezes on the launcher trying to update but never updates.
Consequently I just log into ESO and play. I think about hassling with WoW, then log onto ESO which is working.
Not much to do (for me) on WoW that is fun anyway, not really worth the hassle.
Gw2 is the other mmo I play a lot. I always tend to go between WoW and Gw2 when I feel burn out or want something different as the games don’t play the same.
I came back to WoW for the newest patch and Zandalari and now that Super Adventure Box is coming back to Gw2 next week it looks like i’m heading back that way a bit.
I’ll probably still play WoW a bit though since I’ve been enjoying my zand druid and I want to do more stuff with her.
I also like Overwatch but i’m just not very good at shooters? I try my best but i’m always a bit afraid of queuing quick play since it’s a team based game and I don’t want my poor aim to bring the team down. I really like to play arcade mode though.
A lot of people that play/haved played WoW aren’t even interested in other MMOs. Personally I like MMOs but I have a really hard time settling down in them. In the 20 years I have been online gaming there have only been 3 MMOs I stuck with for longer than a month.
I’ve met a lot of people that don’t even play games outside of WoW and have been explicitly told “when I leave this game I’m not coming back or playing any other games.” WoW has been a gateway game for a lot of people.
And yeah I know people like to say “WoW is the game you can never quit” but that only really applies to the people that do stay. Tens of millions have at least tried WoW and left (source: Blizzard stated there have been over 100 million accounts created as of 2014 - and yes, I am accounting for some of those probably being the same person creating several accounts).
I actually tried to avoid wow for a long time. I played EVERYTHING else because I didn’t want to pay the sub.
There really isn’t anything that matches up.
Im a huge elderscrolls fan boi - ESO ruins everything I love about the franchise. I tried to get past that, but it is so clunky and run poorly that I just gave up.
I tried Final Fantasy, but it’s just a huge rng grind-fest. Looks great, but the gameplay is just frustrating.
Guild wars was great, just not nearly enough to do.
If you like those, great. I tried em. Just not my cup of tea, I guess.
FF14 hands down. I think the latest blanket ban Blizzard did, for their own mistake. Shows how much more mature FF14 staff is over Blizzards. FF14 did an xp bug in one of its, patches. Sad oops our mistake, enjoy it while it lasts will fix it in next weeks maintenance.
